They had a similar thing on the 9 o'clock news earlier in the week, I think they were towing someone on skis down a normal street, but apart from saying it could be dangerous it was seen as a light-hearted reaction to the worst weather for 18 years.  Were they interviewed under caution?

That's where they got the idea from, it was on the news that morning!! Yeh they were all interviewed under caution. He has his pass plus booked for next week as well, they told him this may soften up the judge as he has made a concious effort to improve his driving.

Thanks for the comments peeps, it's like having a pub full of mates in your livingroom this forum  :occasion14: somewhere to have a good rant and moan.  :headbang:

You could ask 'em to show evidence of who was driving the car at the time. Might get your lad off the hook without him having to grass up his mate.

We thought along the same lines and tried to tell him that, but he doesn't want to drop his mate in it as he has just started a job which requires him to have a licence.   [wall]  If he can't drive he'll lose the job.
If there was more than just the 2 of them then the police would have a VERY hard time proving who was driving.

There was 3 of them mate, but being daft lads, none of whom have had as much a s a letter sent home from school, buckled and admitted to it then under caution he was charged. He was only sharp enough not to let on his pal was driving to save him the aggro.
In a funny way I feel a wee bit of pride that he is willing to stand up and take responsibility, but I will be making sure he gets a bit more streetwise in future and shuts up where plod are involved.  :icon_thumright:

I reckon you're right to be proud of him. Good luck.

Which industrial estate? As if its a closed off private industrial estate the police might not be able to jack no matter if there is CCTV or not. Find out from the local council if they should be gritting the roads in the industrial estate and you will find out if its public or not.

If your son buckles anyway and told him it was his mate driving, he will no doubt end up in the same boat / or yer missus as to whoever owns the car. As they will get the  knowingly letting someone else drive their vehicle knowing they dont have insurance on it which is 6 points onto both peoples licenses.
