Route Napoleon
« on: May 23, 2011, 03:49:07 PM »

Im off to the South of France soon to deliver a bike for a customer.
Traveling from Germany I'll be touching on Switzerland before heading into France.
Ive planned a 2 nighter to get down to the coast but Ive also tweaked my route to take in the "Route Napoleon".
Anybody ridden it?
It looks to be an absolute corker!

Did it a few years ago on a ZX6 and its fantastic, after a while though you start getting dizzy! The funniest thing though was the mate I went with complaining about the guys on push bikes cutting him up!  [rofl] (he was on an old CB750 though).

Had a play on Google maps.
This is the last part of my trip down the Route Napoleon into Cannes...
MAP
Ive made the whole trip from Germany (Heidelberg) down to Cannes a two nighter.
So....3 days in the saddle through some gorgeous countryside (i'll ignore the hours of tedious motorway for now) and half a day on the beach in SoF before flying back to Frankfurt. Nice work if you can get it eh!  :tongue3:

When the Bol D'Or was held at Paul Ricard I used to ride it every year on the way home except one year I turned round at the end & went back to do it again. It IS that good :-)

Just finished installing my route on the Garmin from home to Antibes in SofF via the route napoleon. (which was a ball ache btw coz I had to do it on the unit itself and pick my waypoints to choose the route I want to go rather than Garmins interpretation of what I want!)
The trip is 1207km start to finish. Thats 750 miles.

Amazing road, both ways twice!! Havn't ridden it since 2003 and the time before that was 2001. Text a m8 of mine asking if he fancied a blast down there at the end of the summer. As another member said, Grenoble to Cannes in the best part. Enjoy.
