Right I have had the ZX10R now for 3 years longest I've owned a bike so it must be good, but I need (want) a new bike, B-)
My choices are do I wait to see what the new ZX10R brings to the party spec wise, or just stick with the current model and transfer my mods straight on, ?
Next option is,
The new Yamaha R1 it has grown on me over the last few months,
Or
My favourite is the new RSV4 RF stunning looking machine, ( ATM is the favourite) :dontknow:
Thoughts anyone, experience on any of the above
-
mate if youve got the money rsv4 reviews are amazing then again wait till the new ten comes out
-
No experience of any of the above [rofl] I still have my 2009 model which I've had from new & may never sell it to be honest.
But like you, the aprilia, stunning bike :icon_thumleft:
If I could add to my garage, that would be it :)
-
ill take your chain adjusters chappo if you sell mate
-
hint hint :hello2:
-
Theres two other bikes I'd like sat in my garage, one is the RSV4 and the other is an R1 Kenny Roberts 50th Edition. Nothing else floats my boat.
-
agree but new zx10r and gsxr1000 soon hold off my man
-
The new Aprilia RSV4 is the only bike which could tempt me away from my ZX10r at the moment but I'm going to wait until next year and see what that brings, hopefully a new ZX10.
-
The new 10 think current 10 + horses better gearing and all the bling of RSV4's brembos ohlins etc etc :headbang:
-
Cheers guys,
If I can hold out to see what the new 10 holds then I will, but it looks like the RSV4 RF is still favourite my only issue is the nearest dealer is about 50 odd mile away, any issues could be a nightmare with it, ( negative thoughts I know ) [naughty]
Rab - chain adjusters have your name on them
-
cheers mate i would hold off bud just to see what reviews the new ten gets then decide :hello2:

Easier said than done mate I'm an inpatient fcuker lol [rofl]
( when I want something )
-
u not thought about new beemer?
wouldnt hold my breath on a new gixer either
-
Chappo I've had ape v4 great engine and sound , sexiest looking bike ever , but the aprilia back up and customer service is absolutely shite ! It's non existent when something goes wrong, + there are very few good dealers , I ended up going to rockets for my work they are the best in my opinion!
Just for example a common problem was the tank deforms , it took a year to finally get sorted , 2 months for a sticker, 2 months + for a gearbox issue , etc etc , I did keep telling myself it was a bike with character and it was all about character building :dontknow:

Which model did you have mate, ?
That's my trouble the dealer is bloody miles away, Kawasaki and Yamaha dealers I probably have 4-5 within a 15 min ride, :icon_thumright:
-
rsv4 would be my choice chappo its won fast bikes test last 4 years must be good

Stunning machine Rab,
Best looking bike out there by miles, just wish I had a dealer close to me if I did I think I would have already got one,
-
big money though the aprilla.. put ya name down for an r1m
-
Chappo I had the tuono v4 aprc with full factory spec and rsv4 back end , carbon ohlins , the quick shifter was the best I've ever had though :icon_thumleft:
-
Rsv4 looks, sounds and rides amazing.
I test rode one last year before buying the ten. I would have one in a heart beat ......but.
There is always a but. Reliability issues and the crappest dealer back up ever are pretty dam big BUTS.
Had 2 mates have new or nearly new rsv4's and both sold up as continously had problems and were continously being let down by main dealers. The bikes spent all summer (4 and 6 months) in dealers instead of being ridden.
I would go for the 60th Anniversary R1 in the King Kenny Yellow speed block colour scheme.
Stunning looking, sounding and performing bike that is reliable with a good dealer network

both the same money aint tha £18,000, the R1M is nice just a bit plain looking I prefer the R1 in blue tbh over the R1M,

that is my only doubt with the RSV4 reliability, I don't think the new ones are as bad reading the reviews some give it 5 stars, :dontknow:
but like you say there is still that but in the back of my mind,
-
In my opinion today the R1 is it! But I really believe the Gen 5 is gonna be it you should just think for a moment how good a 10 it will be with the same WSB spec as the RSV & 1000R R1 B-)
-
It's a question of whether you can live with the worry.
It's not just the fact things go wrong it's Aprilla and there dealer network are shocking at looking after customers.
If they looked after owners and rectified problems quickly it wouldnt be anywhere near as bad imo. But being honest my mate had his bike for about 3 weeks in 6 months last year as constantly back and too to the dealers.
On one warranty claim which was a thrown conrod so it was expensive and they weren't going to pay out. The reason they gave was because it had a none standard ecu. My mate had done nothing to the ecu so really did some digging around and turns out the dealer who had it waiting for the warranty claim to be approved had swapped his ecu with another bike as they need one quickly and had none available from stock or Italy. Not only did they not ask his permission they didn't even tell him and nearly cost him a new engine as the warranty claim was going to be rejected.
-
 it's a fact you cannot trust Italians, there products & there associates.
-
is smart the new r1
-
The yellow R1 is stunning, but wait till the details and spec of new 10R are released before parting money.

It might be hard but I'm going to try mate :icon_thumright:
-
you think the yellow one is sex [rofl] [rofl]
-
The new 10r is going to have to be something special to better the R1 which is an impressive bike with an amazing spec sheet.
-
I think the R1 has just gone favourite, had a quick play on one today well I didn't expect it to be that good,
WOW. [clap]
-
[rofl] I truthfully beleive the new 10 is a game changer but it will as costly as the rest + not the bargain it is now.
-

I take it you find it better than your heavily modified 10 then.
Where was it better than the ten ?

It's like a 600 on anabolic steroids lol
Very light nimble and the noise from the Akra can is insane, it did feel quicker than my ten even in standard form, standard QS is good and the box is smooth, couldn't find a fault
Very impressed mate :icon_thumright:
-
Don't egg me on I really want one too.

Was it just an akrapovic slip on or a decat system that sounded so good ?

Just the fooking slip on [rofl]

So when do you pick it up a Chappo :icon_thumleft:

So when do you pick it up a Chappo :icon_thumleft:
Not ordered it yet, but I have ordered a few bits already lol [rofl]
-
What have you order mate ?
-
2016 R1 has been ordered in blue,
Earliest delivery date will be January [wall]
-
Personally all the new gen bikes scare me with their electronics. All fab when they are working but what happens when they start going wrong. I expect some are gonna be very costly
-

And it takes away the skill of riding. My mate, he just winds it on in the corners and the electronics keep the bike in line. All he is doing is steering. Where is the fun and skill in that? I feel more alive controlling a rear wheel slide or stopping the front coming up in a corner than I ever would seeing a traction control and anti-wheelie light flash in my peripheral vision. If bikes become any safer, you may as well get in the car.
-
Plus i must say that my dad test rode the new r1 and said its useless on the road.
Its a awsome track bike for sure but have you rode one in traffic and done a few pull aways on it?
Its rediculous high first gear and snappy throttle make it awful in traffic all be it a bit better than the previous r1.
The original big bang is a snappy dog to ride in traffic. It nearly snaps the bars from your hand if you hit bumps sometimes.
The gen 4 zx10r i tested was perfect. Brilliant throttle response with a decent geared 1st gear. I want one so bad
-
Well the one I test rode was awsome, handled a lot better than my 10, I instantly felt how good it was from the off, yes it has a snatchy throttle but after an hour use I got use to it and it didn't bother me in the slightest,
-
if its too high geared drop teeth from sprockets sorted
-
I imagine a software update will be available at some point to improve the throttle response.

Looking at the new pics released today  I don't like it. At all,
And I'm not just saying that, the rear looks like the Z800 and the front I'm not keen either,
The spec might be good can't see a QS on it but it has Brembo,s
-

Then just switch it all off :brave:
-
it looks good gas suspension q shifter launch control over 200bhp brembo brakes five stage traction control
-
cant wait to see launch review think its going to raise the bar again [clap]
-
The spec might be good can't see a QS on it but it has Brembo,s
It has the quickshifter from the H2. On top of that it has, cornering management function, Inertia measurement, electronic throttle valves with adjustable engine braking, above all the usual stuff like ABS, traction control, etc.
-
Let me just explain about that shifter :-P going from 1st to 2nd if you keep the pressure on the rod it will automaticly change up 1rpm from the limiter through all the gears right to the top so yoju can concentrate on what's ahead not having to look down at rev gauge or shift up light [clap] [clap] have you any idea how fast that will be :hello2: :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:
-
& just in case you haven't seen this :-P :-P :-P :-P
-
A proper fairing again and i like the rear end over the gen4s
-
doesnt look much different to older bike but a heep of changes [clap]
-
Big improvements and a good spec, shame I'm not keen on the looks tho,
-

Cheers mate I will do, 200 brake on the roads is plenty and I'm so looking forward to the R1
At least the R1 gives true BHP figures unlike some makes out there,
I hope the new 10 is a cracking bike but I won't be owning one,
-
cheeky bastard good one that made me laugh there :-P

Please post up your thoughts on the 1299s be interesting reading.
-
I had a 1199 heavily modded , had its faults but loved riding it , the zx handles supreme love it but has to be ridden hard to make me smile . Hopefully the 1299 got shit loads bottom end keep u posted if like it be a cheap zx 6 month old with 12 k on and plenty mods to sell wheels suspension exhaust etc
-
I spoke to a guy with a 1299 the other day. Its obviously awsome on track but do you realise if you stop in traffic you get cooked by the rear cylinder .
Even though its got heat sheilds that 1199 didnt have.
In summer its unbareable apparently.
Nice looking bike though.

Well i dont reckon 1299 has much hope against the Gen5 when you compare the real world difference between the 1199 & Gen4 :icon_thumright: https://t.co/SWTtfch7jL
-
I forgot to add keep watching after the burn off for the Gen5 inside peak :icon_thumright:
-
Both great street bikes enjoyed both of them .
-
So the new R1 including the R1M are to be recalled for gearbox work  It's a engine case split for those meaning it'll be costing Yamaha loads a dosh & I expect a few problems afterwards with the bikes too :pottytrain2:

Thats sad news for yamaha. They dont deserve that sort of luck after the amount of effort they put in the building of it
-
There's six hundred sold in the UK including the R1M but there will be others in stock and transits that'll have Tobe done as well, then all the problems afterwards where the bikes are never the same again after they been re built. :dontknow:
-
I would not fancy my bike bring stripped n put back together that new.
