« on: November 08, 2008, 04:21:54 PM »

No not personal hygiene....

Ok is it just me or is the 08 Zx10 a bit of pig to keep clean? What are peoples top tips for cleaning - sponge, brush or cloth? - is jetwashing a bad thing? anyone using a toothbrush for those hard to reach places? - chammy leather or fancy synthetic cloth for drying off? how often do you polish? (again n ot a personal question ) what cleaning products - is hallfords basic stuff as good as the more expensive products.?.....after using WD40 for many years only realised recently it was good for cleaning grease off....any top tips welcome!

Baby wipes and Mr. Sheen. For the wheels I use either neat gunk/jizer on a rag.

Johnsons Baby Shampoo for cleaning bodywork etc....

Meguiars Super Degreaser for rims and engine grim....spray on....leave....work with brush....rinse off.

I do have to admit to using a jet wash...I'm so lazy.  But I don't get too close.

If I'm gonna polish (which I think I've done once)...I use Merr Polish!  Microfibre cloth....wipe on...wipe off!  :headbang:

im giving mine its winter clean down today, thinking of taking it to the local jet wash to begin with although ive always been a bit dubious about them.then its back to me garage and a good clean down on the wheels and other grimy bits with wd40, and the rest is auto glym polish with one of those micro fibre clothes, and tesco fly and bug remover for the front bit. when all thats done i,l spin it upthe road and then wax the chain up put its cover on and let it have a nice sleep for the winter, its gonna need it! next yr it gets lots of sparkly new bits and maybe even one of horses bodywork jobs. then its off to the TT.

well its all done, black is without a doubt the bitchest colour to clean! have one or two finsh issues aswell i noticed, there is a small dull bit on the edge of the tank were ive rubbed against it not good for only 4k on the clock. good though that after nearly 6 wks sitting in the garage she fired up first time and ticked along nicely.ive also found out that back to black on the plastics works bloody wonders!
