Hi guys, can anyone help me please. I've bought a HID kit to go in my main beam but lets just say the instructions are less than informative.

Probably really simple answer, but there's two wires I'm not sure where they'll go. looks like a + and - (red and black) with spade connectors on. Any ideas?

And just in general, what needs to go where, and if anyone else has fitted a HID to an 08 ZX10R where did you locate the ballast box?

Are they worth while in the main beam?  I thought they took a while to warm up and give full light.

they do but its not exactly long, a minute or so tops, also its still brighter than standard bulbs even before it gets to full strength

The problem with just main beam is by the time it warms up you'll need to dip again, i paid 60 quid delivered for a pair now riding on dipped or main is no drama just pleasure.

Ok I had no idea these things took time to 'warm up' as such, with that in mind will it matter if I put it in my dip beam instead. The kit is for a H9, but the dip beam is a H11, as far as I can tell the only difference is the wattage but since HID's are lower wattage anyway it shouldnt matter? the bulb itself is the same.

This is what I have, how do I connect it? where do the two (red and black) wires go?

I'm guessing the red and black wires just need to go into the headlight harness (where the standard bulb plugs in)

If thats right its a pity it didnt come with a block connector already attached, would have been much clearer and simpler to install.

You would be correct that would be to connect to the standard harness

All sorted now, got it fitted ok. 

Just a note though, in my efforts I discovered H9 and H11 bulbs are NOT actually quite the same fittings. They are like a mirror image of each other with a very slightly different locating tab in the middle. Like me though at first glance you'd be forgiven for thinking they are identical.

So I've had to fit the HID to the main beam after all, however it does come on almost instantly which is fine, even if it takes a few seconds to reach max brightness. I butchered a H9 bulb to make a block connector so everything is wired up nice and neat. The ballast block is zip tied to the small black bracket on the inside of the left fairing panel.

All I need now is to get out in the dark and see how much better it is.
