Just fitted 190 55 k2 race tek to my 05 10r and noticed tyre runs with only about 5mm clearance between swingarm.
Is this ok and i have just read on mcn that i should remove 3.2mm spacer on top of rear shock.
Is this correct and if so why?
Also whats the best mod to stop hugger rubbing.

I assume removing the spacer will reset the ride height to the same as with a 50 profile tyre

I just threw a couple of washers under my hugger bolts to clear mine

Don't take out that spacer - that'll negate the whole point of fitting a 55 profile tyre - gives quicker turn-in. A lot of us run these tyres with no probs apart from the hugger rubbing. I took mine off and heated it up with a heater while stretching it over a spare wheel - did the trick nicely.

Err not really, the quicker turn in comes from the tyre profile. Anyway the rear ride height has a lot more to do with chain line and how the bike behaves (squats) under power. If you want faster turn-in lower the front

Hmmmmmm thats cleared that up then what about clearence between swingarm and tyre?
How much does tyre expand when at high speed if you see what i mean?

no probs with mine pal , nowt to worry about there

easy solution here I did it on my race bike had a 195/70 profile on it fine .......... Longer chain
