decisions ,decisions !!!!!!!
« on: October 23, 2008, 08:24:01 PM »

well a mate of mine is pondering the decision to swap his 57 gixxer 750 for a 58 zed 1000 ,
he's going to to get a sweet deal for the gixxer which he's come away from only 3 times ,that is the bike loves tarmac on its fairing more than the tyres  :dontknow:
so just wondering what you fellers think of the zed compared to the gixxer  :icon_thumright:

2 completely different bikes, if the gixxer 750 stuck him on his side a few times the z1000 definately will, ita a great bike with a ton of power only problem with it is of course riding distance at any speed gets you very tired with wind blast

if he's fallen off the gixxer so much he should maybe think about changing his riding style too (albeit I have no info about how he managed to fall off it) and maybe the Z1000 will do just that.

Two completely different types of bike though so as long as his intention is to take on the new riding style of a non race rep then maybe it's a great move forwrd that may save him from another fall  :dontknow:

Wippy is the Zed man and I'm sure he'll be along to tell you what they are really like  :icon_thumright:

I sold my Z1000 to get my z10r.

I had my zed for just over 3 yrs (it was the 05 model) and it was a really nice bike.

It struggles with any seriously fast riding unless you upgrade the suspension on it which a lot of the zed riders do.

I just didn't get on with the upright riding postion and much prefer being more head down arse up so decided to get the z10r instead.

If hes seriously interested in one tell him to check in here       www.zedownersclub.proboards82.com

and I'm sure he`ll find lots of usefull info.

Just my 20p worth....

I have just sold my 07 750 for the ZX10.  I track day'd the 750, and its a perfect handling bike, I did nothing too it, and it treated me well and from what i can remember, in the 2 years, it never let me down (handling wise).  B-)

I've had my fair share of writing off bikes, Z550, ER5, ZX7R, CBR600F and my worse accident I broke my back (compressed a vertibra)!!!   :-(

Before you get another bike, get some advanced tuition!!!!  ROSPA, BIKESAFE, IAM, or a private company like Rapid Training (search google), and do some reading - Roadcraft (police handbook), Twist of the Wrist (racers manual used by California Superbike School).

Seriously, you may think that advanced riding is for old men, but if you can pass the RoSPA test at high level, you can apply this to your illegal rides and at least your'll potentially be riding safer!!! even if it is 150mph down a country lane, wheeliing of the crests and jumping hump back bridges!!!.......(As a RoSPA GOLD holder I'm not aloud to do this any more  :-P   )

Anyway, I'll stop bleating, enjoy and keep it rubber side down.

regards

Neil

PS:  At least if he drops the GSXR while training, he wont write off another bike!!!!!  :-P   :-)
