Steering Damper Re-valve
« on: October 13, 2008, 05:45:40 PM »

OEM dampers are crap and I never thought I would need to but, I need a re-valve. The steering shakes all over the place since I went down one tooth at the front and up one at the back........and I fitted my quick action throttle  Where is the best place to get the re-valve done or should I save up and buy a new damper? The bike is only used on the road.

What do K-tech do to it? If all they do is change the oil that that's an expensive service

I can change the oil in a steering damper. It isn't difficult.

no lads..

inside is a tiny brass valve . it looks like the thing you blow a football up with.
the standard one is cut short but the Race spec ohlins one is to a point. The chap gave me the old one and showed me the new one. He said changing the just the oil wont work, but it is now WSB and BSB spec..

not sure how much it costs but i did some work for him so mine was a freebie, and he set my forks and shock up.. :icon_thumright:

Ah ok, that's what i was asking in the first place. A longer thinner taper would give you more adjustment
