having fun with speed limits
« on: October 10, 2008, 08:54:45 PM »

Anyone ride to the speed limits recently?  Try it!!!  See how many cars, vans and even lorries you wind up!  They hate it!  Especially if you make it REALLY hard for them to overtake.  I got beeped twice today!!  and all this from the speeding bike hating car fraternity!  Guys, we cant win.  Coming out of Brands today, where there was a maximum of 150 bikes there to watch the BSB practising, 6, count them 6, motorcycle cops were pulling bikes on their way home.  On the same stretch of road I saw 3 car drivers using their phones and was overtaken by a car in a 40 limit. I was doing 40! Funny thing, didnt see one car pulled.
Whats it all about?  This country is proper fooked.

ok, rant over.

as for driving at the limit i drive about 150/200 miles a day with my job and because of all the cameras and cam cars you carn`t afford to speed..............i use my cruse control on the motorway,,,,,,and like you say i set mine to 70 mph on the dot,,,,,,and just whatch the que build behind,,,,,,,,,,

but its nice not to have too look over your shoulder all the time in fear of being pulled.............................allso if im good though the week then i can be a mad hatter at the weekends [rofl] [rofl]

I must be a right b#####d 'cause I do this all the time to tailgaiters when I'm in the car [rofl]

Stressed out reps and shoppers all over the back, side to side , that close you can't even see their number plates. Used to have an old origional skoda, press the fog light switch and it looked like brake lights, screeching brakes smoke from the tyres behind!!
Very irresponsible I know, but they kept their distance after that.

Had a guy follow me home from work the other morning sitting right on the back wheel almost, left braking and indicating right to the last minute. Love the brakes on the 10

So many people drive inconsistently these days, standards aint what they used to be thats for sure.

There's a stretch of road I use almost every day on the way to work. It's a residential area 30mph that then leads into 60mph open road. The residential bit is quite a wide road with plenty of visibility so traffic can make reasonable progress. I tend to stick to about 35 but you can guarrantee there'll be idiots ragging it at 50 or so either sat on your arse or disappearing into the distance.

But once they get to the 60mph bit they just seem to stick at the same speed and you either catch them up and have to overtake, or if they were behind you they go backwards!!!

Dickheads the lot of em! :icon_scratch:

I had a workmate do the very same thing on his Harley, rode it smoothly and within the limits. The bloke following him was all over his tailpipe and ended up running into him at a roundabout at about 20mph. Wrecked the bike and put him off work for a couple of days. Shame 'cause the bike was almost new. Plod charged the driver, but it could have been worse.

Sit and take notes and or pics and then ask for the policy/reasons under the freedom of info act and see how fast they change the ratio of  bikes to cars they pull [whistle]
Put a camera on the car/bike and if they challenge you show then the vid and again see their faces.
Its been done by a lawyer recently and he's made a fair few mobile camera/pull sites dissapear around here [clap]
