as you may know i paint my own bikes i build, but have had something happen today i never seen before.
I have painted a brand new race fairing black, i mixed that paint the way i always do with thinners ect, my spray gun was at the same setting as always but the paint looks shit.
Its really rough to touch almost like sandpaper! no runs and the coats were even the only thing i did different is use shity halfords paint, i normally use paint from r.s bike paints and it always looks good.

orange peel effect? Was the fairing clean, not washed but with proper cleaner? I would say that it is the shite halfords paint reacting with your primer or the fiber glass. Your getting a chemical reaction adn it's repelling rather than bonding. You haven't got water in the paint have you? from your compressor? Do you have a water trap inline?

My guess is it went on too "dry". Maybe you have to change the "setting" so the spray isn't so fine ?

sounds like it might of "bloomed" if the surface is too cold it takes too long to evaporate the solvent and the paint fucks up

But it was Liam who was spraying wasn't it? Depends on his kit and whether his fairings were too cold/dirty/bad paint
