FOOK me turescot what are you talking about.............

don`t think you will ever find what you are looking for,,,,,,,,,,,,,,been in building trade for 25 yrs as a joiner.............and trust me brick laying has only one rule and that is ......................ONE............ON...................TOP...................OF..................TWO

its been like that for about a 1000 years or so,,,,,,,,,,,ask the chaps who built the great wall of china............. :tongue3:

sorry for ranting but fook me,,,,,bricks straight up naaaaaaaa.........put to gether with some fancy glue...........bollocks it will never catch on............. :boxing:

I will find this product eventually, i swear it was used in quite a few constructions, the person came in to display the machine (on the inventor tv program) and had never even thought about patenting the cement till he was told to do it quick, he never realised he had made 2 inventions instead of one, I totally get the 1 on 2 rule, i did afterall have lego when i was a kid, and believe it or not despite not being a builder have actually done brickwork on quite a few houses which is why i was so impressed with the thing when i first saw it, just wish i had been impressed enough to remember the name

Truescot, I remember seeing something similar at a garden center.
This system used a resin based cement and set rock solid in no time, actually much stronger than sand and cement.
It could only be used for decorative purposes though, not load bearing, as the resin would melt in a fire.
Could this be the same stuff?

quite possibly it was a long time ago so memory is a bit hazy, but they did say you could do things like make the top of a door frame with it sorta like this

     IIIIIIII
     I        I
     I        I
     I        I

where the I's are the bricks,

Also i remember them showing pictures of some of the building they had done it with and they appeared to be load bearing walls, but as i said it was a long time ago and my memory is a little hazy on it so it could be what you are talking about, but i will soldier on searching as i always wanted to buy one for my dad s birthday or something

also here is an example(i dont know if done witht he same tool/binding but it shows the stack bond used in a house

Must be a specialist application,  otherwise we would all be buying it at B&Q. Maybe it is pinned or tied to the wall some other way as well as bonding the bricks.  :dontknow:

My brickwork was nothing to write home about, but it looks fab now it's been rendered over.  :icon_thumright:

There is another possability, It turned out to be shite and everything built with it fell apart within a couple of years and so the company went bust, or they never got off the ground in the first place due to ineptness but as i said they where not pushing the fact that you could do that it was just a nice side feature of the special cement/morter/glue that they had made so it could be pumped through the machine they had made

looking good there Andy :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

couple of old school tips for yea.........

yea mortor looks to be a little wet...( ie too much water in the mix)..

mortor should be Two bags of Sand too Half bag of cement...

water should be one bucket ...ie one builders bucket

plus in water use some plastersize.....or the wifes washing up liquid......

i can tell your mortor is two wet because it has marked some of your bricks,if its rite it should just drop off when laying them............only do the pointing at the end of the day.....NOT as you go buy..........

hope this helps..........fine work there Andy.... :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

bob... sorry not sure what mix you are doing there but.... I was taught that  ...

1 scoop cement 5 scoops sand... I always used the water to eye so it was thick but still pliable..... and you need FEBS if you don't have FEBS then washing up liquid works a treat.....

I was always a good labourer but terrible at laying , kev would be the idea man to ask this though ..... top dollar builder is our gopher  :icon_thumright:

cheers for the advice it's much appreciated  :occasion14:

yes I did have some of the motar a little too wet for a few courses/coarses, well whatever they are  [whistle].

I've been using 1 cement to 4 sand and 0.25 hydrated lime and water to eye sort of thing which is where the problem lies, me yep  :tongue3:. It's a fine balance really in that if it's a little dry it doesn't allow me to sit the bricks right and too wet it runs a little.   The rain didn't help either  [wall]  However, it's all about learning and with no prior knowledge I'm doing ok overall even if my back aches like hell tonight  :crybaby2:  [rofl] [rofl]

All in all I'm happy though for a first attempt and yes with the  pointing  I did it half an hour after laying the bricks  :emb:

Andy are you using FEBS , its to make the mix more gluey (is that a word) it helps it to bond washing up liquid does the tricj if you aint..... about a table spoons worth each mix should do it  :icon_thumleft:
