i am experiencing some stability issues during heavy braking.

i think its the rear comming of the ground as i have had the feeling of the bike
moving from side to side slightly.

also it can cause the bike to go off line, just as if the rear wheel is comming back down
out of line. it prety unnearving i can tell you.

i have a brembo 19/20 fitted with hel lines and zx14r discs. so brakes are upgraded.

i have ruduced rear rebound by half a turn and have tried siting further back, prob
still happens.

any ideas please.

brake less aggresively at the front and use the rear a little too to hold some weight at the back

Have you checked the tyre pressure?

surely you should be checking the front suspension isn't to soft ... if its dipping to quick that the rear lifts .... surely you want the front to damp more progressively , but not be to hard as you want it to soak up the breaking .....

for the road i've turned compression & rebound in 1 click(from standard settings)
works for me

what you going on about if you brake hard the rear wheel will lift no matter how good your suspension is.
did you see wee dannys bike at the weekend?

it does happen if you're braking hard,although if the front is bottoming out too easily this will make the rear lift a lot more so might be worth having a look there

Wrap a cable-tie around one of your lower fork stantions - not too tight as it must be able to move when the fork leg presses on it. Then go out for a ride and include some hard braking. When you get home, have a look at the position of the cable tie. You should be looking for it to be no closer to the bottom of the fork than about 10mm. This will show you if you're using too much fork travel, in which case you need to increase your compression damping. Or if you have loads of unused travel, it's an indication that the compression damping is too hard. This is assuming that you have set your suspension sag correctly 1st.

Also, as Glen said earlier, more rebound damping on the rear will slow down how fast the rear suspension unloads, so that could help too.

wtf  do you not watch moto gp? i know bikes and suspension my rear wheel lifts and slides and thats because im on it, not because my suspension has bottomed out.

Be careful or the rear end will pack down because the suspension cant return fast enough. This will make the  bike  worse over braking bumps

Yes, you are right to a point, but if a bloke is having hassles and is not necessarily "on it" then it's quite possible that poorly set up suspension could be causing an issue. It's definitely worth looking at to be sure - how many folk out there don't have a clue regarding how their suspension should be set up and it makes such a difference that it's worth getting right.

thats why i reduced rebound dampning at the rear so that it can extend faster during breaking to keep the
rear wheel in contact with the road.

if the rebound dampning is to hard the rear wheel wont extend fast enough under heavy braking and it
will leave the ground.

sag is set ok Saffie mate. will try again this w.end armed with a screw driver, prob more comp dampning
on the front for a start.
