confused.................dot com................
« on: September 22, 2008, 08:08:14 PM »

.................or should it be confused EXJ10R?        See the thing is I've spent the last 6 months hooning around on track learning shit loads about myself as a rider and getting my teeth well into the fast group and working my way up to the front of the pack. BUT!  that is where it stops, as I went for a ride on the 10 on the road for the 1st time yesterday since May and found it to be pretty shit. Basically I can't find any other way to enjoy my 10 other than the track, period.  But have been getting little voices in my head saying superduke! superduke! superduke! superduke!    So the burning question is............do I succumb to the orange devil and get something that is still a hoot on track but also gives us a killer ride on the road without the paranoid fear of uber-mph or stick with the 10R and keep to the track? Even though the S/Duke has WP sussies as standard and can still hassel sportbikes on track. Add to the boiling pot the fact that trackdays cost a bomb if you do as many as I've done (and don't I and my c/card know it  ) and my 10R will need chains, sprockets shock fork revalve etc etc etc before long. Mmmmmmmmm?
Dunno? Do you? 'cause I don't.

There's always the Tuono to think about as well [whistle]
One of the guys on the Germany trip had one and they go rather well.

Jay, pay the 10 of first. As for hooning on the road I hear ya, but I still manage to enjoy mine onthe road as you know. I just can't afford to do as many track days.

Only you can decide as you know where you are as a rider and where your finances are. No matter what peeps are going to post regarding this the decisin is yours at teh end of tehday. I know what I would do, if I didn't have kids, I would have a track bike(the 10) and then a road bike. But 2 kids = 3 track bikes + race van + race season [rofl]

You might find that your sussy might be set up hard for the track making the road seem extra bumby.

its the dilema that gets us all at some time mate, last year I bought a naked (BMW K1200R) to slow me down and be more road focused. Didn't work I still thrashed the tits off it just got more and more frustrated because I didn't trust the weird front end set up, no feeling. I know thats specific to the BMW, but I found that unless I could afford more than 1 bike, it had to be a sports bike for me, anything else just doesn't do it for me.

Ideally I would have a ZZR1400 parked in the garage next to the 10, and have the odd road blast on the 10 but keep it mostly for the track, and do at least 1 trackday a month. However in reality my current financial position hasn't managed to dtretch to 1 track day this year  :crybaby2:

buy a zx6r and go 600 racing instead of track days...likely cost about the same and the thrill of racing is a million times better than track day fun. Getting to the front of a bunch of bikers who are basically doing their own thing isnt so cool...its still fun but once you have done a bit of racing likely you will just use track days for the odd bit of early season testing..

The problem with loving a track is that you then tend to ride for the same thrills on the road and that is death trap ally no matter how lucky or good you are....

So on the roads buy a bike that is fun but does not need massive speed to be that...they will still get you banned if you break the laws though, ie wheelies and they will break the UK maximum speed limit, which we zx10 bikers never ever exceed of course...or do asa many racers do, ride your bike on the track only...

well thats nowt like the original dilema...there was nothing about where you would like to live, I intend to live in the states in the next 5 years, depends upon how the dance business goes...but it wont make me chage my liking of bikes...

I would live on the continent, probably Germany or Austria, race a 600 or maybe a litre bike, and have a zzr1400 and Ducati Monster for the road, and probably a collection of classic Jap bikes. However until I win the lottery I will stick to the 10, rare track days, and keeping my eyes peeled for plod.
