The law on "Show Plates" is changing...
« on: September 17, 2008, 08:43:49 PM »

oh dear :(

(Stolen from Gixerjunkies)

Just thought I'd post this email that I received from myshowplates.com this morning. Whether you use them or not to supply your plates I thought it might be of interest. First I'd heard about the law change to be honest

=================================
Limited time left to purchase your Showplates

You may have seen in the press that from 1st November 2008 it will become an offence to sell or manufacture registration plates that do not conform to the latest British Standards and design criteria laid down by the DVLA.

Consequently the ability to purchase Showplates displaying non-legal fonts/spacing/images/slogans etc will be outlawed.

As a result, My Showplates can only supply Showplates until 30th October 2008.

With this date looming and Christmas fast approaching we wanted to give you as much notice as possible to enable you to place your orders and avoid any disappointment. Here is a direct link to our website:

WWW.MYSHOWPLATES.COM

We appreciate and thank you for your past support.

Regards
The My Showplate Team

Its all a bunch of bollox from this crap government again. It changes nothing by way of catching criminals since the people who rely most on dodgy plates (ie the crims) will still make their own dodgy plates or just nick them from another vehicle.

And to claim its so ANPR cameras can read plates ok is crap too, how shite are the cameras if they cant read a 7x5 plate?

Fuckin Stazi are out of control!!!

What if they're "made abroad" and then posted to the UK?

Can't see how they can stop that...
