when you come off the throttle ( just before ) you will feel the bikes weight transfer to front just after this you want to nail it. The whole off on thing should be done in about a second.

I don't even bother with the off bit on the 10, its got enough power to hoist the front by just cracking it open hard at about 7000 I find. In second I shut off then crack it to get the front up, not needed in first though.

bike won't cover you because your going to ease off as soon as you feel the front wheel leave the ground. Cover that rear brake just in case but you'll be fine.

You will shit yourself and your heart will pound alot but you will get over it in time. Start off small.

If your having trouble start on a very slight hill going up until you get used to it.

Bladeblaster: I know what your saying but it makes it easier I think

The easiest and best way to get used to the feeling of the fron coming up is to find a staight piece of road that has got a decent crest and accelerate hard over it, the front will come up nice and gradually, as you gain confidence hit the crest faster and with more throttle, this will give you more confidence of having the front up in the air.

The trouble with deliberately trying to wheelie when your not confident, is you always hold back, even if you think you aren't you probably are.

I would worry about getting it up first, I have put the front down at around 140 with no problems, that is only really an issue if you have the front in the air long enough for it to stop spinning, so when you put it down it has to go from 0 - whatever mph instantly, don't think thats going to be an issue for a while for you mate, no offence  :icon_thumleft:

Because you will shit yourself your front wheel will probably come crashing down quite hard , its no good for your bike but you'll be fine and its bound to happen.

The trick is to accelerate again as the front wheel is coming down to make it smooth.

You won't able to keep it up ( so to speak ) at first but that that doesn't matter. Your wheelies will slowly get higher and smoother and they will get to the point where they will seem to float then your nearly there. This won't happen in a day. Just get used to the front wheel coming up.  :icon_thumright:

Get bigger balls  [rofl]

Its like anything its about practice.

Normally you just get a puff of tyre smoke and a bit of a shimmy through the bars, and it sorts its self out.  :icon_thumleft:

Don't worry about keeping it up at the mo.

I bet it felt like you were going to flip the bike too? Your not!  You need to get over the panic ( comes with time ) and start giving it a little more gas everytime.

As your wheelies become higher they seem to take care of themselves. :-P

The higher the wheelie the easier to keep up ( with in reason! ) You wont keep the wheel up at 3 inches B-)

theres a few post on this before with lots of good advice so i will jsut copy and paste what i wrote before and hope it doesnt decend into a clutch vs power wheelies cock off :)

easiest way is to stick it in second gear get up to between 6 - 8k revs then slap on the throttle, yank in the clutch and let it go next thing your wheel heads skywards at a very controlable speed

if you want to reverse it and do a stoppie, the easiest way is to get yourself up to a decent speed say 60mphish commign up to a taffic light at 100 meters, pull in the clutch and slowly bring in the front brake harder and harder till it bottoms out then the back wheel will begin to rise, again nice and slow and controllable

that aint gonna happen for him just yet if he can't get it more than three inches in first & if it does the wheel will come up fast and he's not used the wheel in the air!
