Especially women drivers in little white vans who think its clever to take the "racing line" across a roundabout when we both went into it at the same time.

I saw it unfold just before it happened so managed to slam on to get out of her way but in doing so it straightened the bike so she managed to clip my barend and knee (i think) so i ended up bouncing of the side of her van back towards the roundabout

Kept it shiny side up and moving(of course) but couldn't believe what she had done, so amidst the shouting and millions of swear words i was trying to get her attention with i tried to get her to pull over to give her a piece of my mind but she wouldn't look at me so me efforts were for nothing but at least she knew she was in the wrong. I was too angry to even remember the reg plate.


Good news is that i kept the bike upright, there is no damage what-so-ever to myself or the bike (hope i left a dent in the van).

Should've took a wing mirror as a memoir of this event!

The number of muppets that do that on roundabouts is mind boggling, I cross 3 busy dual carriageway roundabouts coming into work everyday, and it has happened so many times I just dont go up the inside anymore. The other fav is going straight over on the outside (which is fine) but then switching to the outside lane as they come off the roundabout without looking. And my personal fav is people that go all the way around on the outside 

Even when there are lanes painted on the roundabout they still fuck it up.

or drivers  that indicate right  and then indicate left after the first exit when going straight on

and the ones that indicate left and go right round............and vica versa..............

you should see people when they get to the magic roundabout in Swindon.

motorways do my head in,  everyone has this facination of the middle and outside lane why will nobody use the nearside lane??? but if you get caught undertaking your the one that gets nicked

I had a woman in a shitty wee car sitting in front of me at the lights in the fast lane(couldnt get round her) it was a 70(kmh) limit with the slow lane full of cars.  The lights turned green and i almost shot streight up her arse, not because i put any throttly on or anything jsut that she accelerated so slowly it was unbelievable up to a top speed of 40(again km/h)with all the traffic in the slow lane over taking her.  I banged my horn revved my engine the usual, eventually i nipped round her on the insidde gave her the old single fingered salute and dissapeared off until the next traffic lights where she wound down her window and started going nuts at me for being an anti-social bastard, speeding psycho that kind of thing.

Also roundabouts are a far better system than traffic lights.  In the uk you have visual sensors on top of the traffic lights to let it know there is traffic waiting and turns to green faster on the ligths with more traffiic waiting.  In the netherlands in their wisdom they put scales underneath the ground to give them this data, of course bikes arnt heavy enough to trigger them so you end up sitting at lights for ages unless theres a car behind you that you can get to pull forward onto the scales.

A well placed elbow also knocks off the wing mirrors on vans...

i got 2 approaches inthe car i put the car inside them and block them off,on the bike i give the door a kick.

In theory this is true in reality roundabouts seem to confuse the fuck out of the general population. Mind you its easier than getting your knee down at traffic lights

Yeah I did the M6 from M42 to North Wales using the inside lane and middle lane the other day - inside lane doing 75 whilst the middle lane was doing 65 and the inside lane was empty

you should count your blessings there is 1 lane free, around moscow the 3 normal lanes are always full as well as the hard shoulder as a 4th lane and generally a lane of 4x4's going up the grass alongside the hard shoulder as a 5th

my advise is that when approaching a roundabout you must have a lead on any cars as so many drivers cut across the centre, same in the car but of course that's easier too see anyhow. I tend to show a lead up to the roundabout else you prob won't be seen as the driver is usually focussed on the roundabout and not the traffic alongside.

A few years ago I saw a lorry that did similar to a car locally and literally squashed the car into the keb leaving the drive trapped !

It's a dangerous world out there and these things happen all of the time and the best you can do is learn to avoid those situations now you've encoutered one.
