brembo hose problem
« on: August 31, 2008, 09:46:13 PM »

now this is strange one, i have a hrc rear brake hose and a brembo hose on the front (from master cylinder to reservoir)
they are both clear well a light pink for the brembo
the problem is the amount of moisture that collects on the hose, i know brake fluid is hygroscopic but it`s crazy the amount of moisture. I can wipe the hose with a rag and 5 mins later its back on the hose, unless its a baking hot day.
I change the fluid often so its not a big problem but if i leave my bike for a week the fluid goes milky white because of the moisture as its absorbing the moisture through the hose. I thought these hoses were suppose to be good.

anyone else have this problem?

yeah i did, had one of those tube rear resi's had to rebleed rear brake every two weeks or so cause kept getting spongy. and the constant weeping... got rid of it and used a mini pot & made a bracket, also used the black brembo hose (front & rear, PDQ sell it) and that doesn't weep...

the HRC rear hoses re well known for it because you can't get a decent seal hence why not recommended for road use. Mines the same but I just like the look and don't really use the back.

its not moisture you see on the hose its the brake fluid seeping through.

i had it on mine, changed hose to petrol hose and now its fine.
if you dont belive me, dab your finger on it and lick it next time, i did and i
can tell you it dont taste of water

i think Jon177 had same prob on his.

ok, leave some brake fluid out in a pot for a day or so and see what colour change you get,

if you dont get one the fluid in your system must be reacting with internals.

i see your point, when oil  emulsifies ( mixes with water ) it goes milky.

mine wasnt changing colour but it was seeping through the hose.
