I guess it really boils down to who you do love the most, your partner is  or should be the most important part of your life, she is concerned about your safety on the bike, especially after your recent crash, perhaps you could compromise, take an IAM course to prove its safe on the bike ,to help alleviate her fears,I love riding my bike, but since driving in my del boy car I suddenly realise how much protection I have, you can always get another bike, but not always another wife/partner who really cares. It's difficult.

[rofl] [rofl] like the " it,s me or the cats" idea Bikerchick82  Just one problem,,,, the cats are mine.  :roll:And our baby is now 18  EXJ10R in answer to your question my location is just outside Blackpool. ( Still a fair old trek to Oulton Park) I tend to feel rusty even if i haven,t ridden for 2 weeks!  Mr wippy, now don,t get the impression i,m a serial crasher or anything ( this is my 2nd incident in 10 years ) but to add some balance to the debate my other half says " I,ve had the knock at the door twice now, i ain,t waiting for the third!" fair point i know. Now i know some will read this post and maybe think " Fuck sakes man, grow a set of bollox its your shout" but as i said this is new ground for me. Never had an ultimatum before.

Think my point was, this is who you are and although I don't know you, reading what you put you have been into bikes for a while. Sooo one cant expect to change someone thats into bikes completely.. maybe come to an agreement but not pack it in altogther. You need your seperate hobbies in my humble opinion..

Like Lea said in her first post, she's asking you to change a big part of your life, it was part of you when you first met and made up the person who she was attracted to.
She's now trying to change that person into one that she can "control"

Christ on a bike, my mum has seen me on a spinal board and dying (technically that bit was done in the ambulance before she saw me....I was actually more stable in A&E) she's never once asked me to give it up or stop riding on the road.
She can't even watch me ride off any where because she's scared of what could happen (She's pretty much seen the worst)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not oblivious or uncaring about how my mum feels, it hurts me that I hurt her but the point is that I couldn't give up bikes and she knows that.

Hence nothing is said about it  :icon_thumright:

If your missus really understands how much the bikes are a part of you then she'd not be giving you ultimatums  :icon_thumright:

But.....If you remain a bollockless wimp then I could be in the market to buy your bike  [rofl]

As said in previous posts, if there's kids involved then that's different.

A guy I went out with long term, had done the usual, had bikes when he was younger, given up, and then bought one when I was dating him. It never crossed my mind to ask him to gve up something he really enjoyed. I at that point had no interest in bikes at all, and only went as pillion once, scared the shit out of me.  I knew how dangerous they were, my brother was killed on one on his 17th birthday. I think we should all be allowed to enjoy our hobby. I know for a fact if I'd been asked to give up something I really enjoyed, then I think they would have to go.

Really hope both of you can work it out

Trouble is that the other half has always maintained that she,s not concerned about my ability on a bike, she worries about your average numpty on the road, this is a point i cannot contest after being taken out on my side of the road by an oncoming numpty. In her eyes the compromise is trackdays only :dontknow: ( it,ll  :boxing: round two when i re- mortgage to afford my 15 trackdays a year! [rofl]

I'd agree with her and tuck the bike away for a few months whilst the dust settles and then discuss calmly of how much you enjoy it etc  :icon_thumright:  she'll roll over like a purring kitten ................maybe  [whistle]
I think this a better suggestion Andy J  [rofl] ( not shure about the purring like a kitten part ) :icon_thumright:
