Just Been Pulled
« on: August 26, 2008, 06:45:13 PM »

just been pulled over for having my knee down on a roundabout and then nicked for having a small plate. I thought it was good practice for safer riding, however old bill seemed to think i was riding like a dick. :icon_scratch:

Is this right?  :sad11:

Unlucky mate, its not their fault they have the IQ of a tadpole  [rofl]

I Remember reading an article for the same thing, getting your knee down doesn't mean you are not in control of the vehicle and riding like a dick.

There's a time and a place  :icon_thumright:

I agree with the copper. How many people have binned their bike trying to get their knee down?

Are you a copper?

Agreed when you are first trying that point could be applicable. and on the road its just a pose but

Getting your knee down does not mean you are not in control  :dontknow:

Nope not a copper and i do a lot of things that could get me in bother, however if i get pulled then that's just too bad. It's the risks you take.

wtf [wall]
wot does it matter wether yr knee was down or not :dontknow:
its not like u need to go fast to do it
and would it have been different if yr knee was in but at the same speed & lean angle :?:
just another bullshit excuse to hike fines & spoil our fun

big pose yes,but surely another skill to add can't be a bad thing

I like to get my knee down now and then but have to say that a copper ain't going to see you as in control or riding appropriately, it's not required for 'normal' road riding clearly or even track for some, it's all about pose and a biking achievement

It's a risk you take just like a wheelie where I like them too and feel in control but the old bill ain't going to be so pleased if he sees me doing that.

We all know the risks  :-/

You know what, I think you absoluty right. :icon_thumright:

It's not necessary, although I think that practiceing it's helped me alot with my body postioning and confidence for all bends in general.

Had this discussion with a traffic plod biker a while ago.

His take on it is that by hanging off in order to get ones knee down you're in a very focused & committed position, which is fine on track when there's only one objective, but on the road when Rodney Reason then pulls blindly out in front of you & onto the roundybout in his Volvo estate you're in a far worse position, both from a peripheral vision viewpoint & taking avoiding action ie changing direction suddenly.
