Wat Ho
« on: August 21, 2008, 03:33:40 PM »

Being a newbie I understand that I'm meant to say hello and post an intro... so here goes.

Hi!   :)

Started road riding on an S1 kawasaki and have always had Kwacks since (owned other makes too but there's always been a kwack in the toy cupboard).

These days I tend to ride 1970's & 80's stuff on the road as you can have a spirited ride where the bike talks to you without straying too far into 'locked up and thrown away the key' territory. Sad but my days of 140+ on the public highway are behind me.

Now I get my speed fix on trackdays and that's why I've joined this forum. Yup, I'm considering a ZX10R for going round and round in wobbly circles.

Currently I use a '96 ZX7RR for that purpose but I've been tempted towards something more modern (12 years is a long time in recent bike development). Being a Kawasaki man through and through, there's obviously only one choice  :icon_thumleft:

welcome to your new home where you'll spend far too many hours and that's a promise  [whistle] [rofl] [rofl]

and........when I was at Oulton at the weekend there was a mixed class where there were many old bikes running really well, there were some ZXR's well and H1 from 20 years back and he was going well, and some modern stuff but have to say that those 1988 FZ750's were flying and almost as fast as a Slingshot GSXR11    [pray]  it's a lot about the rider so love the 7R, it might be a fattie but you could have loadsa fun on it I bet.

Aye the 10R is faster etc but..............well........................ok get one, you'll not look back  :icon_thumright:

Oh I know that. In the right hands etc

Trouble is.... I need to lose 30 years and 30 lbs   and I'm guess it's easier for the bike to lose 30 kilos and gain 20 bhp :)

I agree. Given any modern sportsbike It's almost all about the rider.

Don't get me wrong chaps - the ZX7RR is great fun and, on a track I know, I'll happily run in the fast group without disgracing myself or the old girl too much; well I don't get too many complaints that I've been holding people up anyway :)

I'm not even looking to go faster as such but recently I've been returning to the paddock/pits after a good session and I'm knackered from muscling the old girl around. Yes they go damned well but you do have to work hard at it.

Age - it's a terrible terrible thing.
