have you read this crap
« on: August 11, 2008, 03:19:30 PM »

A bbc reporter asking if a petrol head can be an eco-driver.  for a start he is driving a crappi mini not even the cooper s so how the fuck can he call himself a petrol head???

second he advises putting less fuel in the car so that there is less weight and therefore better fuel consumption, fair enuff but he still sticks in 35 litres into a 40 litre tank, kinda pointless i think being that i havfe an 80 litre tank in mine and rarely put more than 20 in for fuel consumption reasons.

then he comes out with the quote "If you lift off the gas, keeping the car in a high gear, the engine's computer will stop injecting fuel" yea fair enuff thats true in some cars but he also seams to miss the point you would be better freewheeling than having your engine breaking for you causeing you to loose speed quicker and have to accelerate to get back up to speed also if your car is naturally asperated you will just be wasting a fuck load of petrol doign this

Then there are assholes in the have your say bit advocating slipstreaming lorries, do they realise how close you have to be before you get into the slip stream and how dangerous it is to sit that close to a lorry when you cant see whats going on ahead???

oh and some fuckwit that rekons he was getting 76mpg on a run wtf was he driving, you need to drink more petrol than that if you are cycling.

OK rant over

edit - not quite over i just also read this quote "Many people are going on holiday at this time of year, and they'll leave their topbox on for the entire trip. At motorway speeds, that can increase fuel consumption by 20%."   so tell me what the fucka re they supposed to do? dump it and their posessions beside the motorway half way to their destination sot hey can save a bit of fuel??

I get amazing fuel consumption if I put no petrol in my car and push it everywhere. Saves servicing costs as well. Mind you it's costing me a fucking fortune in trainers  :tongue3:

Yea but at least you can truely call yourself a petrol head, it takes a lot of dedication to save your car the pain of driving you everywhere, also remember to push it backwards that way you keep the service intervals much lower as the milage won't increase :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:

you could always get 24-7 race bike bitz to roll your car on to its roof this saves loads of fuel.
