When I Got back into bikes in 1997 I wrote off my new Gixxer 600 after just 5months.

Cant remember which insurance company it was with but they offered me a brand new replacement all I had to pay was excess.     Trouble is after offering me that they refused to re-insure me and couldnt afford another policy straight away so had to leave it till following year.

That's why GAP insurance is the latest scam, insuring against shitty insurers.

I had the same when my gixxer thou was chored, they gave me a value at a few grand less than the bike was as standard and i had a few nice parts that they knew all about.  I gave them a call and asked how did you come up with that figure, his reply well we checked out several shops and websites and took the average....

After checking all the bike shops and web sites i came out with a much higher bottom end replacement figure than what they came out with so i gave them a call back and asked them where the had specificalyl checked as i was unable to come to a cost any where near there offer their reply .... "well em i em we have our own internal procedure" now obviously this internal procedure was for the eyes of personel only so i wasnt allowed to see it.. bastards

Generally they will only offer you a trade in price, not replacement cost, it is a complete fucking rip off. Also if you tell them you bike is worth 9 grand it will increase the premium but has no relevance to the payout offer, you loose all ways.  [wall]

good luck m8, I hate to sound negative but they will resort to plan B and take months to respond to everything, and won't payout until everything is agreed, in the hope you will give up and go away. They are a law unto themselves hate the bastards.  :boxing:
