zx636 c1h? opinions from owners please...
« on: July 07, 2008, 12:31:21 PM »

hi guys got a option to get a good deal on a 636 c1h and wondered if anyone could give some feedback good or bad.

if bought this bike will be my daily 60mile round trip commuter (to save the ten for weekend hoons  :tongue3:)

have had two 636 b1h's in the past and were awesome bikes however the c1h underseat model is supposed to be a little tamer so may be a good idea for everyday use...  :dontknow:

thanks in advance, tony

The C is more road friendly than the B mate.  I've done 22,000 miles in 2 years on mine ranging from comutting to weekend hooning, trackdays etc and on Wednesday its going into Europe for a few more thousand miles.

If your looking to commute on it it will be great as long as you don't find it to cramped, having said that the C is about the same size as the 06 10 anyway.

It's plenty quick enough for the road and nice and easy to ride as well, oh and it goes through 2 foot deep floods as well as snow etc etc.

Depending on your route for commuting you may want to have a DB screen on it as it is quite a bit lower than the B model.

I've done over 600 miles on mine between Thursday and Sunday of last week and was on track with it on Saturday, I tend to get a little saddle sore after about 7 hours of riding.

I love mine and might even get another with less mileage on it in the future.

For commuting I would reccomend the Pilot Road 2, my front has over 10,000 miles on it and the last rear was good for excess of 6,000.  The 2CT that they have are great and warm up pretty quick, I had my knee down on the road for the first time ever 12 miles after putting a new rear on.

The only thing I think you will notice is that it will be missing the grunt of the 10 mate & that I think would dissapoint you, despite the fact that it's quick enough anyway.

People say it's tamer than the b model but it's faster and handles better. It just makes less fuss while doing it

Had one for over a year. Done 14000 miles in every weather conditions, on every kind of roads. Never let me down. For commuting much more 'rider friendly' then 10 and is fast enough.
Would recommend with no doubts at all.

Had one before my 10 and is partly the reason i bought the 10 as when i sat on it it felt very similar to the 636. Lovely bike and believe it or not i could almost keep up with my mate on his 06 'blade.  :icon_thumright:

I've done 20,000 on mine, just make sure the front calipers are kept clean, they tend to clog up with muck and the pads stick.

I've had mine since January and love it, its 33bhp restricted though but is still nimble enough to keep up with the 10's through the twisties!!

I made the error of trying a 190 rear tyre and that upset its tipping in quality but made it massively stable once it was on its side. But i will be going back to the 180 this week

I've done 6k miles in just under 6months and rode it in all weather and no problems so far (bar the nail in the tyre last night).
I carry pillion a lot and she loves it but finds it uncomfortable after 50+miles. A DB screen helps loads as im 6'1" and can get right behind the thing when the need arises (Mines off a 10r but still fits and is taller).

The only problem swith it is the mirrors which give me a lovely view of my elbows & the choice of aftermarket exhausts is slim.

Apart from that its a cracking bike and looks (in my opinion) loads better than any of the other 6's out there and also has a better riding position for my height. as i find the R6 too short, the gixxer to low & short and the CBR6 too narrow.
