Has anyone had 1 of these, or know a bit about the different models and years?

What do you want one of those for Et?....think you'd be better off going back to that old Yam XTZ660 you had than the DRZ!!!

Depends on where it is ridden... Check this out - http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=712e982ad79e557a4012e8015643d9c8edf00f74385593e2 .

The XT can obviously do the trip, but a lighter bike is better for a novice like me.

Oh its for your trip!!
The tank range is tiny on the DRZ...you would need a decent tank range i would have thought Bud.
Mark at West London had one in the other week,it was a black one with a loud can fitted,go get a demo ride on it!!

Oh its for your trip!!

I can't get 6 months off to do the trip at the moment, so I'm thinking of doing the Raid with some mates.

Very few people have a bad word to say about them. The only problem with taking one over the Himalayas is the carb, FI would be much better for big altitude changes (the raid goes over 18000ft).

LOL, don't think they have a reliable supply of avgas in the Indian Himalayas   Apparently they only have  paint thinner disguised as 87 octane petrol.
