Guys Ihave been offered a mint 2000 R6. Being a kwack person don't know much about Yams. Any advice.

The bike ( and this is a genuine story, I met the bloke tonight, he is 86. He buys things that he thinks is a deal then doesn't know waht to do with it) is mint he bought it in 2000 it has done about 1000 miles, He then parked it at the back of his garage and has not ridden it since. It does need a new battery and a new ignation barrel as some one has tried to steal it. He has all the papers, log book etc.

The tyres are even new.

I'm most likely going to buy and sell on.

The bike is clean I have had a police check done and got the  HPI report on it as well.

Pointers/advice welcome

So will have an R6 for sale next month once it has been serviced, had a new battery, mirror and ignation barell.

If your buying to sell then you dont need to know much really do ya, just check ebay and the trader for a price guide etc.

I had one and it was a great bike.

No not really they are a solid bike. I never had a problem with mine and had it for 18 months i think. Pretty quick and handle and stop well enough.

I'd change the tyres though even if there are new, as 8 years in the garage dont do much good for the rubber.

I was going to put some scrubs on maybe or just get something from FWR.

i had a 99 r6 and have v ery fond memories of it.
the only negative i cam rememeber is the 120/60 front tyre profile, you can fit the normal 120/70 but you'll need to alter the front mudguard if your planning on running scrubs

Good point. Saying that i ran a 120/70 with no issues, it was a standard diablo though so maybe not as pointy as a racetec or supercorsa etc.

If its a bargain, buy it and add it to the collection...and maybe great as a track day hack or everyday bike!

I love having a garage full of bikes....especially if you got one for different purposes!  They are brill bikes, my mate has a 99 R6 and loved it....luckily he was small so it suited him.. If your 6ft plus you do look a bit of tit...sorry

i've litrely just  sold my r1 about ten minutes ago ?

i loved it was very quick and very nimble the only draw back is the gearboxes are made out of toffee so beware of the g/box but would be a top track day bike for sure

i think i ran diablo corsas as it was about 4 years ago when i had my r6,think it just rubbed the mudguards
