it's always good with just 2 but we ride sort of 3 up to 6 here and all is fine really, we ride nights in the weeks though so that makes it safer as there's no sort of whiplash if you are at the back like there can be when there's too much traffic to clear, holding position in the opposite lane with anovertaking indicator on when seeing that the road is clear ahead is always a good one to help progress with others behind and also importantly moving to the left when you've overtaken to allow others in is a good one  :icon_thumright:

tend to ride alone down here, but when i go up to loughborough there are usually about 4/5 of us that go out for a blast. prefer to ride in a group as apposed to being on my own, so long as i know who im riding with.

Most of the time its just 2 or 3 of us and we are all of the same standard so its fine, anything more than 4 gets hardwork.

But its good to come across large groups for some fun :headbang:

Me too  :iamwithstupid:

A lot of people don't like group riding, but its all about finding your happy speed and sticking with it...don't feel or be pushed to go faster.  A great example is Andy and Dave are very quick road riders but are happy to ride at my speed...and if little J is out then we'll all pootle around (however he is a little easily led ;-) ).  Every now and again, Andy buzzes the tower and shit me up, next thing he's waiting for us at the next junction. (he know the wales roads too well)

I used to ride in Leicester with a mate, who I trusted completely...I could sit 6 inches from his back wheel and vice versa.  However if my other mate came out, me and my mate would be worrying about him all the time.  He just wasn't as smooth or quick on the same roads. In the pub though he always said he was quicker....quick swig of my pint and a smerk from my mate would always make me laugh.

Larger groupers is more likely to slow things down, as you've got more variance in ability and possibly bikes/power etc.  So I reckon stick to between 3 and 6...

For me riding is all about enjoying the bike, but also being surrounded by may mates.  Riding alone for me just isn't the same.  And also...its gives you someone who can call the ambulance or the missus if ought happens.

buzzes the tower   [whistle] :emb:

I just like the odd quick blast for a laugh, you know me  :tongue3:

I honestly enjoy riding with the guys from here incl Bunny, Dave,Chris and of course Jay  ooops and Phil (who I use to ride with for many years)

it's all about trust and knowing each others abilities, just get a group of good guys (I'm the arse in our group, pissing about etc but I know that so it's fine and Dave can be very fast indeed)   know the people and observe what they do and it can be great and agree the 'rules'  :hello2:

We seem to go out in larger groups, anything from 4 to over 10 but it usually gets split in a couple of groups i.e. fast and slow which is fine coz I can stop for a smoke break to wait for the slower ones to catch up.

Although I did 700 miles at the weekend doing the west coast of scotland, (excellent roads you english boys need to come up and do by the way) but I ended up doing most of it on my own as my usual fast buddies weren't there and the other guys who can be quite quick had to stay back and look after their girlfriends who aint too fast.  I got bored so pissed off on my own and smoked several cigs waiting for them to catch up.  Was a bit boring having to play on my own  :crybaby2:
