Does anyone know if cans of pink expanding foam is any good for filling holes chased in walls for wiring..?

no mate ...... its flammable and if a spark is cause it will ignite

unless the wiring is not there of course

  this is very strange as I was told a story of someone who filled cavaties in there van with this stuff.... then when welding it cause fire and the whole van went up .... just what I was told when the guys come and bought me van... he was an MOT tester ... Apparently .... but he could be a a lier for all I know ...

seriously though, the stuff is a bit of a fucker  to use for that, I've used it but it can be a pain, good old filler is best though, plaster is so much easier to work with

the normal expanding foam IS flamable, but we also use the flame retardant stuff which ooozes out in a dull red colour, just read the label, it'll tell you wether it's flamable or not. And as fastzx10r says, thats an expensive way of doing things, those cans ain't cheap and don't last long. and if like us you'll probably get one with a shitty nozel that don't squirt properly.

Ah, OK sounds like normal filler is the best thing to use then. I only asked because there is someone on LB selling off a few boxes of the stuff, and I still need to fill all the chases after I had the whole house re-wired.

Go buy some render plaster as that stuff is sticky as shit,fill the chase just below the top so as not flush and then use a smooth plaster to finish!...job done!!
