my shortest ride....
« on: June 01, 2008, 09:57:53 AM »

Sick of waiting for my fairings to come back from painter, so went out unfaired, ( bad move) pulled in for fuel 2 miles up the road when a patrol car pulls in, who then proceeds to chat to a group of bikers who were waiting for a mate. Thinks to meself " Full Termi race system.... SHIT...! " my plan was hope he lectures them long enough to make my exit. Had his back to me when i made my move , alas it wasn,t to be... i got the old first finger " Come here now" jesture, followed with " You see lads this is exactly what i,m talking about" as he proceeded to vigourosley blip my throttle. The lads faces were a picture, a sort of cross between " Feckin Awesome" and " Your fucked mate" got read the riot act about my bike being unroadworthy and presenting " A bad image for biking". didn,t realise it was illegal to ride the bike unfaired, was asked yesterday "is it the new monster?" [rofl] does look like it. Anyhow upshot of it all , after running a check on me, breathalising me, explaining the error of my ways as " it didn,t leave the dealers that way" decided to overlook the race system providing i take it home and get the fairings on. Reasonable bloke really docha think? :hello2:

that,s right R1ninja, no headlights was his main bone of contention,i had mirrors and indicators fitted at the time, but he suggested that the sharp leading edges of the unfaired nose would " cut someone in two"  if i hit em,altough i don,t think they,d be too chipper just cos i had a front fairing on either..... [rofl]

shure did, could have gone to town if he wanted, as my tax wasn,t on display either. [whistle] word of advise lads when dealing with your local constabulary ( not that i make a habit of it) just take it on the chin, nod agreeingly at the advice and sometimes (as i did) you get lucky and get off with a verbal. Don,t whatever you do start acting the twat an being a smart arse. [naughty]

Glad you didn't get done for race system  :occasion14:  I agree that you have to be polite and nod in the right places even though you are seething inside!!!  I got pulled a couple of weeks ago - riding along minding my own business at the correct speed, was behind a car travelling at 30mph.  At the side of the road was a police van with a couple of coppers stood outside.  1 of them pointed at me and gestured for me to pull over.  I pulled in and got of bike - fully kitted up - and the copper said, 'oh we are just making spot checks to make bikers aware of the safety issues regarding wearing the correct kit'.  I smiled and looked down at my leathers, he said 'ah yes, I can see you are kitted up properly, thats really good - now, how about we talk about advanced training?'.  As I started to tell him about what additional training I had done, a guy went past us on his bike with t-shirt and shorts on  [naughty] .  The copper looked at me and said, 'oops, maybe I should have stopped him instead of you'.  I just raised my eyebrows and smiled as I'm stood there sweating in my leathers!!!  [wall] [wall] .  He then told me to get on my bike and be on my way.  Felt pretty cheesed off as it was obvious I had the right kit on before he stopped me.
