I've turned the other cheek . . . .
« on: May 23, 2008, 11:51:43 AM »

. . .  and just ordered a brand new R1.  Had 17 enjoyable months on my ZX10 but have stacked far too many miles on it in such a short space of time - was looking at having to stump up quite a bit of cash for fork service, new rear shock etc etc and still end up with a high mileage bike.  So Decided I would add a bit more cash and buy me a new one instead.  Should be picking it up mid June - I've ordered a Graphite one and its currently on back order with Yamaha.  Can't wait, I'm all excited  :hello2: :hello2: :icon_thumright:

Well at least I've now got it in the go faster colour - well graphite is almost black  [whistle] :tongue3:

how come you went for the R1 over the 08 ?
Small matter of me being a short arse and not able to touch the floor  [rofl]  With the bike upright I had to do ballerina toes to get any contact with the floor and then it was only minimal contact  [wall]  Oh and the other reason is that I personally think the 08 10 is pig-ugly - no offence meant to anybody who owns one or who is looking to buy one, but no matter how many times I look at it, I dont find it pleasing to the eye.  Hey, its just as well we all like different things otherwise the world would be a boring place  :icon_thumright:  :occasion14: .

I like the new black/gold gix (low seat height too Jax ;) ), but it would have to be the R1 for me as well. Good choice

Thanks for all the replies.  I like to use my bikes as much as possible - the dealers all seem to have a heart attack when it comes to trade in time though  [wall] , ah well its only money and the only reason I go to work is to earn money to spend  :hello2: :occasion14:

Excellent choice  :icon_thumleft:

Just out of interest, what sort of mileage you got on the 10?

Legz, I've put 25,000 miles on it - not bad for 17 months  [rofl] .  Would have been about 2000 more - 1000 on a hire bike when that stupid woman reversed over the 10, and then 1000 on the k7 gix thou demonstrator when the dealer was trying to sort out my Fi problem!!!

I like the new black/gold gix (low seat height too Jax ;) ), but it would have to be the R1 for me as well. Good choice

Andy, I saw that one in the flesh down at Fowlups this morning - wasn't sure what to make of the colour though  :icon_scratch:  [whistle] . The K7 thou that Frasers lent me was a nice bike to ride, but the R1 was just really lovely - did about 120 miles on the test ride and it just did everything so easily  :hello2:
