Dave, Quality is second to none, race proven. really easy half turn off and on, spring loaded. weighs nowt compared to that montrosity of a oem petrol cap, plus it doesn't hiss and make strange noises. Only me doing that now, lol.
Drew, stomp is well known with the track boy's as you probably know and recommended.
Reason I got it isn't track related for me, it was got to try and stop me slipping down onto the tank due to the seat being angled further forward on 08 model. spent a lot of the time with my balls squashed onto tank and find it hard to grip bare tank to take weight off my wrists. Since putting the stomp on, I am far happier with positioning and also my poor wrists are not so bad. Last point is tank protection, as you say venture shield or one of these clear shields would prehaps look more asthetic but would not have given me the grip factor I need.
I think for sure tank protection is needed on this bike due to the soft paint. Maybe some of you guy's already know the reason, I didn't. I asked the dealer today and he said for the last few years the industry has been switched over from cellulose to acrilic paints. This is the reason they are softer and more easily marked. Great news eh !!.
sure some of you got more technical knowledge regarding this, but if he is correct then it is something that is a bit of a retrograde step.

Cheers

I think it's for enviromental reasons mainly.

Are they the black or clear stomp grips?

Silky thanks.
r1ninja, half and half mate. Main pads for tank sides are clear, you also get 2 black pieces, one goes on plastic fairing piece that runs under seat and along tank side, the other one goes on frame onto the pad that is already there oem.
I really wanted the black ones, but I have had to wait so long for them I gave up, they are like hen's teeth. I think everyone with 08 models are buying extra bits and probably the same type of things, so anything I seem to go for is on back order. Christ knows when I will get a zero gravity screen, I phoned vendors today and they are at least another 3 weeks away and then they don't know what colours or stuff they are getting. Maybe have to start buying from the states, but seems crazy considering a lot of the stuff is made in Europe ok well stomp isn't in this case. the clear is harder to get nice, need to heat tank and pads up, that helps with the smallish air bubbles you will get and remove them, there is however tiny tiny ones in some places, its like impossible to stop some of them coming it's like in the glue. however benefits out way this.

cheers
John

fair points made mate.. i just dont see a need personally, i find my seat ok in leathers but slippy in jeans etc.. talkin of back orders.. still no seat cowl! i want it ! think im gonna get the complete venture shield kit, only have tank done.. had it on my old 10r works a treat and can hardly see it on green. as for paint, i had aK4 gixxer thou and after 6 months had to have new complete fairings as the paint fell off? dealer said its cus its water based thses days with laws and standards etc... was swapped free of charge but still a pain in the ass when your pride and joy falls appart in your own garage! thats why i went for green, had a black 10r and just got rid of a black zed thou and as nice as they both looked, was a barstuard to keep looking good.....

Hi Drew,
Really glad you are getting on fine with the seating position mate. Yeah venture shield has great right ups, guess one of these things like stone chips and rad guards, you can't be bothered with getting it then comes the stone clips and fins on the rad knacked. I am just a sucker for black and I pay the price in it showing up every mark, lol. hell i should have just gone the whole hog and got the metallic orange. Man they got one in the dealers when I went in for a service today, striking, but don't know if I would have the balls to buy that colour, lol.
sorry to hear about your suzuki mate, yeah it's horrid seeing that on yer pride and joy for sure.
Hope you get your cowl soon, I have not even looked at that yet but believe you, I think they have seriously under-estimated the amount of people buying accessories for the 08.
I got some RG stuff coming, so far 8 days and phoned them today and the rad guard is still another week away and the sliders same. Hopefully fork and cotton reel protectors will be here next couple days.

Cheers
John

Any chance of a piccy of the stomp grip taken from the side? I am trying to make up my mind what to put on mine. I got hold of some Oxford Paint Saver film the other day, made some templates, and fitted it to the bike. The tank doesn't look too bad, (green, so hides the flaws well), but the bits I applied to the black plastic panels under the tank look pretty crap. Just not satisfied with it, found it impossible to apply without leaving some air bubbles [wall]

Kawasaki do pads for the 08, They look really good on the bike, but they just aren't big enough.

Cheers.
