Avoid this road for a while
« on: May 19, 2008, 10:24:29 AM »

To anyone down in darkest Dorset / Wiltshire. Give the A30 from Shaftesbury to Wilton a miss for a while. They are carrying out road dressing on sections of it. Went down it yesterday, (Sunday), and it is a complete nightmare. Had to stop after one section and clear all the stones stuck to the tyres with tar. The bike felt like it was going to go over at the slightest provocation. Not to mention all the crap being thrown up by traffic going the other way.  :cussing:

Sorry, should have said earlier, is it tar with a load of loose stones spread on top, you can imagine the result. Even if they sweep it, it ain't going to be right for ages. Shame, like zxyogi said, it's normally a really nice road to play on.

hard to explain but its similar to this , and there will be loose stones for a few months .... they did it to a road by me and it to winter to clear the stones .....  :-(

Cheers for the heads-up. I'm from Salisbury and head out that way from time to time.

Don't think you could call it gravel. More like stone chippings, and some of it a bit bigger that 10mm judging from some of the ones I had to remove from the tyres. Just shit loads of it all over the place. Whoever developed that idea needs his head firmly removing from his shoulders...Gits. :violent5:
