Bike Paint
« on: May 20, 2008, 09:02:23 AM »

My race fairings are due to arrive and i'm wanting to paint them as they look crap just in white.  Just wondering where do you get the paint from ??  I'm fancying a sparkly black colour or what Glenn did to his bike is pretty cool.

Has no one explained the law of paint to you.

You paint some lovely track plastics,
Within 3 sessions on track you bin it.........

halfords sell spray cans if you want a proper finish rs bike paints sell it in half litre or 1 litre,
to use in a spray gun (need a compressor) but they also sell in spray cans if thats what you want.
rs bike paints will also supply all you need in a full kit primer, paint, ect

Doing it myself  [rofl]  I'm not that stupid, getting a mate to do it.  Reckon I might just go for that sparkly BMW paint and see how it looks, i'm not that bothered about it being an excellent job as its just for the track bike and with my track record i'll no doubt be crashing it again  [rofl]

Will have to get some cool decals for it too... might get you've just been passed by a girl and your on a zx10 up the side  [rofl]

right ..... you  gonna show you.... blimmin girls on baby gixxers indeed  [rofl] [rofl] [rofl]

we'll see  [whistle]

oh if you want the fleck then you used a flat black on the bottom coat.... each time you need to wet and dry to flattern.... then use 4 coats of clear coat each time again flatterning it down...... then you use the fleck ..... you spray from further away and (if with proper painting tools I think you get special nozzles) with spray can you gonna have to judge it.

then another 5 coats of clear coat flatterning it down .... then last thing you need to compound it and polish up ......  :icon_thumleft:

this is for a really nice finish  B-)
