Halfords paint in shit. I mean proper shit.

Find a good paint shop in the yellow pages, it'll be cheaper and better paint. Most places can put anything in spray can's these days.

A good paint job is 60% prep anyway. Make sure all the surfaces are keyed properly & are totally free of dirt & grime. If your paiting onto gel coat, you can paint stright onto it, i have in the past, but its not very strong, i'd etch primer it first and then paint.

tha paint on the fairngs u had with my old bike was kawasaki OE paint , and done by a paint shop , i dont think its any better than wat ive done on my new 10 with halfords rattle cans ,and a damn site cheaper

Yeap, 5 coats of clear on the lower fairing will always help it stay chip free.
