2008 ZX10R with Racefit Growler
« on: May 15, 2008, 09:46:07 PM »

Guys,
fitted this late yesterday, fired up this morning. Sounds the dog's, christ knows what it's like at full chat. Hope it does some nice popping and spitting on overrun like the Akra did.
Didn't get a ride out today with it on as I was fcuking around with putting the meta 357T alarm in another spot.
The dealers had fitted it tywrapped  to side of subframe but it was really too wide for there and was pushing out the plastic fairing piece at the side of the undertray and was annoying the shit out of me. I removed the tie wraps and put it in where the toolkit is. put the tool kit under the seat. If they hadn't been so frigging lazy they could have put it there in the first place.

Cheers

Thanks Guys, appreciated. Yeah it looks a lot better.
Cheers Dave, didn't know there was anyone up that way.
I will maybe get a PC3 for it too. Oh and Dave, did I mention, I have a steering damper now, lol.

Dave,
lol, just meant a got a free damper one with the 08 model the ohlins one. I never did ever get one for the 05, must not have been trying hard enough never needed it!!.
Drew, will post up some more comments on the Racefit as I rid around on it, give you some impressions mate. I also loved the R55 from Yoshi, I think that is beautiful shape. But it's only a carbon end cone, not body on that model, also it doesn't get rid of boom box underneath, it just goes onto input side of boom box. Strange, can only presume it is cost saving as if you made the link pipe another 8 inches or so and weld on some nuts you could have removed boom box and kept rear belly pan piece too, it's also in stainless not Ti the link pipe I mean.
Akra does optional link pipe on there evolution race, but it was on back order when I checked earlier in the week, their race can's also etch in "not for road use" so that is another added expense removing that, hex end can is nice.
It's all very personal what stuff we buy for our bikes, that's the great thing about it, everyone into different looks/feel.
The Racefit is very basic form/function. unpolished welds, the carbon on the can is hand wrapped, you can see that, not just one seemless sheet as in mass production, everything is Ti except the rivets which are Aluminium which makes them easy to drill out when it needs re-packing.
All depends on the look you are after in the end.

Cheers
John

would be interesting if racefit moved the can to where the boombox lives.....................
hidden with just a nice little exit.
Twostroke is running his without the silencer - just the boombox and its no louder than mine with the twin A & R baffles

Hmm not into that, prefer the Yoshi, but interested in the link pipe and how you did away with that square box? :icon_thumright:

parden me for being thick, but.... how do you stand getting pulled if its got a baffle in? only ever had road legal cans with baffles out but at least they are stamped with the required road markings.. just curious? and how does the bike run with the racefit on? any need for a PC111 etc? or does it do just fine as is? not looking for power gains ( bloody quick enough for me folkies!) just want it to run nice.....and look better
