Reactolite Visors
« on: May 13, 2008, 10:41:20 PM »

Hi all,

I finally replaced my ageing and red Roof helmet with an Arai Chaser Guardian. I really want a black or tinted visor for the new lid, but I'm wary of a tug, been advised that plod are cracking down on such up here.
Anyone got any experience of reactolite visors or pinlock inserts, do they perform well etc. Any advice on Suppliers and the like.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Whammer

Think the whole law regarding dark visors is WANK!!!....albeit wearing one at night incredibly stOOpid!!....but irridiums are ok to see through at night!!
What is the difference from wearing sunglasses that you cannot remove on the go to a dark visor that you can flip up if required......arse its all fooking ARSE.....  can hear PSG wakeing up and heading for the greenhouse

Had a great convo last year with welsh plod, they were OK with 2 of us wearing dark visors, as long as it was not dark before we got home, but had a telling off for a non kitemarked dark double bubble screen (on a SRAD GSXR 600)..

Then they overheard 2 of us saying we had hit pheasants a couple of miles before (silly unpredictable things) and their reason that the 3rd rider didn't hit one is that he had a clear visor, so saw them before us!

Interesting to hear that they are clamping down.. hope its not going to spread nationwide!

Agreed! Also I work in a police enviroment and never been asked to remove my dark visor. Also use a dark visor with transitions lenses in my glasses.

I use a dark visor on my Schoei Z-one, but I do worry about it's UV protection, your eyes will be more open due to the darkness so the rays will be zapping your retinas.  Does anyone know if there is any UV protection from a visor?

Hyperoptiks are good and no mist, they go dark blue in sunlight and clear when its dark, I'd recommend them if your worried about having a tug (harumph).

on my old Arai i had a legally tinted genuine visor from dealer and put a hyperoptik ( excuse pelling !) inside it.. worked a treat to make it darker and looked good too. got pulled for exceeding the limit ( dont know how but got away with a slapp ) never even mentioned my visor and they checked everything out me/bike.. had an Akro with baffle out and a slightly smaller plate,,, my lucky day...

now have dark tint.. if you get pulled then hey... not the end of the world is it..

In Scotland Friday to Monday ANOTHER campaign is ongoing. It was on Grampian news on Friday morning. Nice weather this weekend, so the bike brigade cash cow will be out in force. Don't get me started on this shit. They are going for bikers big time up here. It's not isolated because about 2 weeks ago I was out with some mates and when heading home got pulled by 2 female officers of the law, one standing in the middle of the road to pull 3 of us in.
checking for everything from visors to tax. was no point in talking to them, they not interested in "excuses". She said big campaign directly targetting bikers.
Never heard the about the kite mark on a screen scam, christ what next, checking whither your leather armour is CE marked !! or your sliders marked, fcuk that would be a hanging offence.
you have all those frigging Chav's running around is god knows what, where is the purge on them.
And yeah the reactolite visors good, lol.

sorry
John

I've got a fog city light reactive insert and I can't fault it:

I bought one off e-bay a bit cheaper than these.

Only problem I had was I put it a bit low and ended up colouring in the gap with marker pen   :emb:
