Sorry Guy's - Need Tyre Advice.
« on: May 10, 2008, 01:23:01 AM »

Hi all,

Am a newbie to the forum and the ZX10. Great forum from the scoot around I've had so far. I'd like some advice on a tyre that will give me good wear without compromising TOO much on the handling. Know it'll be a question thats been asked many times, but I would welcome any recommendations.

Many thanks, Glenn :glasses9:

Hello Glenn,i use Mich Pilot Power 2cts which give good mileage and plenty good enough grip!!
The standard Pilot Powers are just as good with a tad more life in em [tried both] and good enough for trackdays as well.

Now for the other bit, could you pop along to the newbie section and introduce yourself please, cheers!  :icon_thumright:

Diablo Corsa III's....I have them fitted and think they are great.  Apparently they are quite long lasting too which is great to hear for bike and bank balance.

Other options could be BT-014, I had them on my giixer 6 and rear lasted for well over 4k.

I then changed to Dunlop 208R's....what a great tyre and make you want to attempt knee downs everywhere due to the profile.  Bike turns on a sixpence.

We all seem to love certain tyres, but there are always a few that are well liked on here.  2Ct's. Corsa's (inc III's), and some fot eh Bridgestones too.

I would stay away from 014's on the ten (no offense bunny) they felt wooden to me no matter what pressures I ran.... I have heard the 016's (if you can get them) are awesome...

But my votes are for Pirelli Corsa III's they have great feel and triple compound to last longer

also I ride with yogi and that fella give his tyres some real stick.... and if you follow the saying if he can corner like that then I can.... then he pretty much has a decent tyre as I am running track tyres..... at the moment....

so to some up Corsa III's or michellin 2 CT's and you won't go far wrong  :icon_thumleft:

racetecs..................was out on mine all day yesterday...knee scratching(in leathers this time  as its Sunday[whistle]) at every bend i could.  dont think they are gonna last as a thong though  [rofl]

still find it hard to believe that i can go all the way over, plant my knee hard on the tarmac and still i have a chicken strip on the edge of the tyre, its all nice and bobbled up though  [rofl]

the profile on these things are just perfect for hot days, and funny as fuck in the ice and snow  [whistle]

dont think i would chance them on a saturday though...........would end up with a trip to the police station me thinks

  :emb:
