Hello!
« on: May 07, 2008, 12:43:28 PM »

Ive been told to be polite and introduce myself....so I will start by saying Ive never even ridden a motorbike in my life......I do however have a single seat hillclimb/sprint car that I had an 04 plate ZX10R engine fitted to over the winter. Its a fairly awesome engine compared to the old ZX10 that was in there.

Thanks, I'm from Cumbria and do the northern speed championship in it....we go to places like Harewood hillclimb, Barbon Manor, 3 Sisters and Teesside Autodrome (which is where the photo is from). Its a great engine, although I'm still struggling to get used to it. The old carb zx10 engine that was in it only really revved to about 10,000 and hit peak power at 8,000. The new one needs revved a lot more to get the best out of it, but its a lot more savage under hard acceleration. Most of the opposition run R1s or GSXRs and I would say its as least as good if not better than a standard version of either. Ive got a power commander and a carbon can fitted.....it hit 145bhp @ wheels which is around 175bhp at the flywheel (it has very wide sticky rear tyres so theres a fair bit of power loss there). It doesnt weigh a great deal (about 350-375kgs....I can pick the front up on my own and the back with a helper!) so it has a pretty good power to weight ratio, and it goes round corners at mind boggling speeds :icon_thumright: I just hope that the engine rattle that brought me on here is nothing serious.....I really cant afford another engine...and I'm leading the championship at the moment too.

if the engine rattle is just a rattly top end it the same on all the 04/05's and is nothing to worry about, it sounds like a fun car for sure and surely the 04 motor knocks spots off the 1988 one you had before  :dontknow: even if you do have to rev it. There's nothing in common between the two at all  :icon_thumright:

Welcome to here by the way  :occasion14:
