Rear tyre blowout
« on: April 20, 2008, 03:34:58 PM »

Well set off for a little ride out yesterday, roads dry and a little blue sky,but a cold wind kocking about, got up to devils, and glasson dock on the way back home, was going down A6 doing normal ish speeds, and the front end started to feel all stiff and the bike sounded hard,it was all weird at first and it came on realy quick, then i rembered that i had just had the front wheel off last weekend, and the calipers apart as well.................... :shock:so now im thinking o fook is the front going to lock up or what, did`nt want to touch the front brake just in case it lock up or just plane fell of the bike...............so i see a garage 200 yards in front so just rolled off the power and started to turn across the road, but the bike was double hard to turn,,,,,,,,,,,,can yea smell the FEAR yet..............now as its slowing down the noise is horid and i manage to get to the forcourt, and stoped as i got off the back tyre is completley flat,,,,,,,,,,,,fook me,so glad it was``nt the front tyre ...

had a quick look to find the biggest hole ive ever seen,,,,,,,,,,bastard....now what, gona get home yet, plus me tea will be ready soon.... [rofl] if i get home late for me tea the Bloody dog gets it,and im pretty hungry.........so of to the shop a buy one of those foam repair cans that is suposed to fix the hole up and fill it with air,so i put in on and pressed the button,to inflate the tyre,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,OMG all the fooking stuff is flying out of the hole just as quick as im putting it in...............o man its now all over the arse end of the bike and fook me its double sticky..........what a mess..............this is not going to work,so i give up on the road side repair and phone for help.......lucky for me my GOOD mate CHAOS have a race van for his bike so i make a call and hope he is in...................PLEASE be in......and he was.TOP man can out and picked me up................Nice one Paul i owe you one,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

all well new back tyre need now,and just hope the rim is,nt flat.......................

as for thing learn`t from this,im defo gona get some off those proper repair plugs.................that foam in a tin is just a wast of time and money :crybaby2:

Crap luck that is.
At least you weren't wringing it's neck on a long sweeping bend, that could have been nasty. Never had a flat on a bike before, touch wood. Makes you think.
If the foam is similar to the 'gap be gone' stuff you get at B&Q, it's the stickiest shit on the planet. Hope you get it sorted.  :icon_thumright:

..... wondered why ya weren't around at Caton, KrbyLds and Hawes..... today bobby

as for aerosol can jobby's, I had one that wo' at least three yr old !!!... and it fixed a hole about 10mm x 10mm in a right angle, the corner off  the bottom of pint pot !!!.....

.... that said,   Warning   if the running ya tyres a bit close the bone, these tyre guys have got there processes down to Thou's.... once yo're past the tread indicators the stell belt only about 10 thou down !!! :emb:.... last year up scotland three us came back on the steel ....nasty ..... So if ya going for more than 5 / 6 days either put  "Avon Speedmaster Generals" on ( you young fukka's won't get that ! ) or take   2 sets o tyres !!!  [rofl] [rofl] [rofl]
