10R track cherry popped
« on: April 18, 2008, 10:57:20 PM »

1st blast out on track at a freezing Knockhill today and all I can say is

What a step up from my old 750. Power is limitless. I was all over the place to start with, had more lines going than Bart Simpson  [rofl]

1st session cut short just 4 laps in after someone spilled, by the time I got out on the second session, it was so cold I could hardly see a thing through a fogged up visor and ended up in a run off strip.

Ran the bike on standard settings, and it was a bit of a handfull, should really know better, I will work on it for next visit. Standard brake hoses were poor also, another 10r rider pointed out my rubber OEM hoses in the car park and warned me to watch out after 5-6 laps, he wasn't kidding, I needed an anchor and drag chute to pull up!
Braided lines on the way  :icon_thumright:
Terribly nice chap, but he seemed to have an awful time keeping his front wheel on the ground down the homestraight
 [rofl]  [rofl]
It was a sea of blue & white gixxers with a few cbrs, all track focused, planted bikes so I was in the minority with the 10 but felt all the better for it, having to actually wrestle and ride the bike round the track rather than glide round.

Any way was really getting into it by the end and can't wait to get back for more.  :icon_thumright:

sounds great pal, nice one.

if it's a 1st gen 10R you might be best changing the master too, to a radial from a 636 or later 10R or a brambo as the braided might not make much difference on their own  :icon_thumright:

It's an 07 Andy, brakes are great on the road but not so good on the track. Fitted goodridge hoses and brembo dics to my old 7r and it stopped like you were hitting a wall! I'll start with the hoses on the 10, discs will have to wait 'till next year. May sign up for one of the N. MacKenzie trackdays though. Reckon I could learn a bit quicker, the bike is so light compared to the 7r, I think this is what I need to get used to. Need to think a bit more before putting the power down, on 7r you could just about nail it anywhere it was so planted, even at fairly large lean angles you could start to bring the power in, I can't do it on this beast yet though.  :emb: Lots to learn.  :icon_thumright:

Possibly GR, lever got really spongy after a few laps but was fine when i was travelling home, nice 'n' firm. Hopefully braided hoses will stiffen it up a tad. Fabri Screen is a hit by the way, didn't feel a thing tucked behind it.  :icon_thumright:
must dash, missus is giving me the 'glad eye' :hello2:
