Don,t be shy with the Loctite.

Well fitted the new rearsets during the week, (look + feel very nice indeed) so finish work on friday early and decide to road test them. Rear brake has the fancy linkage too, so i thought " Won,t bother Loctitin` anything yet till i,m happy with all the settings. Gets 3mile down the road when..... You guessed it.... Brake lever swingin itself round in the breeze. Stopped to rescue the linkage arm before it fell off and lost it for good. Decided to head home. Approch next roundabout.. go to knock it down one then.... :shock: you guessed it gear linkage flapping about in the breeze. No tools no spares Stuck in 3rd gear. Did one of them old fashioned race starts running with the bike then hop on. Thanks to the low down grunt she pulled off in 3rd ( she werent happy tough!) managed to make it 3 miles home stuck in 3rd. Every time i approched a roundabout or lights i had to time it for a clean exit.... every car waiting at a roundabout was treated to a mental dialogue of " go u fuka.... go.....go now"  [rofl] it was just like that runaway bus in the film "speed" only this was the Ducati that couldn,t go under 15 MPH. So moral of the story is " if you got Loctite.... use it!!! :tongue3: P.S (any of you race boys want a spannerman!) [rofl] [rofl]

don't use loctite on mine ..... I use copper slip and gorilla tight method.... them nuts even after changing to half decent quality one still round off under my hands....

so loctite would defo make me round em off....

copper slip for me  :headbang:

you should ALWAYS use loctite on rearsets  :icon_thumright:  and bloody hell those rattlers do rattle don't they  [whistle]

A good point to note, thanks to Chris, is that not only should you loctite the fittings i.e. brake and geat lever and frame bolts but the footrests  too, after he mentioned to me that his had come a bit loose I checked mine and sure enough one was loose  :icon_thumright:

Andy .... I haven't had a bolt come lose on me yet...... and liek posted before if you have 2 different metals they grip together they act as a bond and need copper slip to help undo them so they don;t seize...

but then my torque setting is ........ FUCKING TIGHT  [rofl] [rofl] [rofl]

just keep an eye on the footpegs mate as they can rattle loose  :icon_thumright:

I know what you mean though and I'd never have anything come loose but didn't want to take any chances with the footreasts fella and after chris saying about one of his coming llose and checking mine which was alos a little loose it made me think agian that's all  :icon_thumright:

In my mind i thought " doddle that.... Take the old rests and selector linkage off, and replace the new".... for my limited knowledge it turned out to be not so simple. Trouble was with the vast range of adjustment available i was getting a setting for 1st Nuetral to 3rd, or 2nd to fifth and couldn,t hook 1st. [wall] took it to a mate 2 nite who sorted it. He gave me the advice that the position of the olive linkage from gear selector shaft and olive linkage from gear selector footpeg need to be the same. ie if you choose a position of say 5 o,clock  on the gear selector shaft then it should be 5 o,clock position on the footpeg.
