thing is while ive never done time myself i know plenty who have and pretty much to a person they all say the drugs in prison are much better than on the street..

the whole prison thing as a concept is flawed if ytou ask me, its draconian in principle, gives criminals a chance to hone their skills, and provides them a way to gain contacts in their chosen field of endeavour...

sorry guys cant agree hereputting someone in prison for taking drugs, or anything else is completely pointless.

If they commit murder then they are no longer needed by society...off to the moon...
If they commit serious violence more than three times...off to the moon
If they burgle...they have to pay it all back.  Community service and the like...
If they rape remove their ability to do so.
If they speed give them a star and wish them on their way.

No need for jail whatsoever...

not completely pointless per sey... but it certainly doesnt have the desired effect of teachign anyone a lesson... for sure there are a lot who hate proson so much they think "fuck that" and get out of crime, but for the lifelong criminal, its next to useless as a deterrant/frightener

Mind you if you have seen some of the prisons over here in Africa, believe you me they would act as a deterrent...
