ah you have come to the right place welcome to my world  ;-)

the zx10r is probably one of the best track focused bikes out there at the minute.... next to the k5/k6 gixxer....

they are not as easy to ride fast as most bikes but once you get used to it .... the joys are very rewarding..... I really like my trackbike and I have tried so many times to get a gixxer but cannot bring myself to do it  :dontknow:

yes it does have flaws and as long as you buy one that had decent suspension you have over come the biggest flaw right away.... the other flaw is the dash but then ... on track I barely look at it  :dontknow: i tape up the speedo anyway  :dontknow:

Thanks for that, looks like i better sharpen up a bit ! i currently run a zx7r in the fast group and can hold my own until the straights and then get whoop arsed.so not ever ridden a zx10 and not wanting to listen to the bike mags opinion i thought asking you chaps and yes its a zx10 site but most bikes have bad points if people are honest would shed some interesting light on the 10.hopefully some of you have owned a zx7 and know its a hard bike to replace when handling is spot on .

as GR says, the biggest improvement you can make is

a) suspension

b)master cylinder

after that,it's little improvements but these are the big "two"  :icon_thumleft:

There are few complaints about the bike and of course there is a majority bias in here albeit I must admit that the Gixxer does steal the show but costs more so overall the 10R is a good bike.

I can't comment on regular track use but can comment from the many posts I've read in here over the last 17 months and I say based on what I've read in here from owners that you can't go far wrong.

One warning is that it's a huge step of power from your current ride and will feel a lot smaller too.

Have you ridden one to try it out ?

Hi chum, welcome to the site, new here myself. I have just recently bought a ZX10r after several years on a 7R and the difference in power is astonishing. I have only done a couple of track days on the 7R but am relishing the chance to get the 10 on track. The biggest difference apart from the power when riding on the road was how light the bike was and the quicker steering. One thing is for sure though is that you won't be able to pick your line and give it a fistfull like you could with the 7R, that I worked out for myself very quickly and I'm still running it in  :!:
These bikes demand a lot of respect but I think it is worth the extra effort and input needed from the rider. I'm loving every mile on the 10r and if I can learn to  transfer the confidence I had on the 7 to the 10, track days will be unforgettable.  :icon_thumright:
I say go for it, in green of course, and you will soon forget your ageing, heavy, overgeared, underpowered, asthmatic, carb- icing, exhaust dissolving, crap rear shocked, shitty front calipered, great handling, gorgeous cult Kawasaki.
