cheers Spenny,  think I'm locked into another Passat 130 really now  :icon_thumright:

I've considered pretty much everything else over the last few weeks and reckon the 130 Diesel is a stormer of a car and 50mpg too, I had no complaints of my last one which can't be bad cos I'm a moaning old fekker  [whistle] :icon_thumright:

cheers Harv, I've made enquireies about a 53 reg 130 sport a few mins ago so that might come around for me , ex company car with FSH etc, quite fancy that one and if he'll take the Laguna off my hads for a few bob that'd be a cracker really, fingers crossed. I'll drop you a PM but am not sure about auctions simply because I haven't been to one so might pop along to a local one this week to see what goes on  :icon_thumright:  What's a sellers fee anyhow ?

Doug, yes the newer Passat has that weird handbrake thing but I'm looking at the previous model fella which was great from ym own experiences anyhow  :icon_thumright:

Hey mate.. I meant to say buyers fee  :emb: it's a couple of years since I bought one at auction - but think they sting you a couple of hundred quite for the privilege of buying. I've only ever been to BCA, if you let me know which your local BCA is I can warn you when suitable Passats are going through :) Which area are you in?

The 130's a great engine, hope that one comes off for you..

I haven't looked into it, but have you considered a new Jetta, it's pretty much the same size as the old shape Passat, with the new Passat being quite a bit larger. Give a shout if you want me to have a look  :-P

Trade Clean (Auction) price on a  S trim 1.9 Jetta on 06 55 with 70K is 6600... finding one is a different matter though!

A Passat will be much easier mission..  :occasion14:

Only place you even stand a chance at that money is Ireland buddy  B-)

Good cars though and much better VFM than the equivalant 5dr Golf ( and , arguably , they do drive better too  )

Andy - If you like the shape of the Passat might be worth considering a Skoda Superb  :dontknow:

cheers fellas much appreciated,  think we've decided to sit it out for a Passat Diesel, we do like the 130 but a 100 would be fine too and a few extra MPG too  ;-)

I'm waiting for a guy to call me back after he called me this morning so we'll see if that comes to anything later and if it doesn't we'll just wait for another to pop along and yes I might take a look at the auctions to see what happens there so might be in touch for soem hints and tips for that experience

Thanks again guys
Andy

John,

just don''get one, pile of poo just like Simple told me   [whistle]

It's full of sensors and just a pain in the arse, it's also mostly plastic (roof and wings are ) and manages just about 30mpg. It's a 1.8 petrol and has the power of a moped, just the overall quality is really poor

The MOT is due in 3 weeks and one of the ABS sensors has failed again  [wall]

The cambelt needs replacing but on these it costs more as it's a cambelt kit apparently

Looks like I've just struck a deal trading it in for a Passat so hopefully it'll be gone on Saturday

Jon, don't get a laguna albeit the older model ie prior to 2000 was a good car
