Hi GR,
Work with a guy who was hit with a black taxi doing 40mph, he was off work for 10 months, lost a kidney and splein and pissed into a bag for months, then asked me to train with him. I lasted about 3-4 months, we were about 25 at the time. He kept up his regime of exercise, mostly muscle building as he had dropped to 7 1/2 stone while ill. He was eating about six meals a day and taking shakes and creatin as well as vitamins, all natural stuff. He had 1 day off a week and afforded himself a treat at the weekend, pizza or the likes. His diet and commitment were awsome, 18 months later he enters Mr Scotland Natural  Bodybuilding and wins.  He just bulked up on the right foods, high in protien, but fook he stank!  I could never commit to that level, he had a real goal though as the accident nearly killed him. Funny thing is, he is the most clumsy, unorganized bloke you could ever meet, like the sloth from Ice Age,  [rofl] even talks like him  [rofl]
What I learned from him about the diet though is that your body only absorbs about 20% of the goodness in the food each meal, hence the frequent intake of protein and vitamins.
That way your system gets what it needs before it needs to start feeding of you body fat and muscles.
doesn't work with red wine and choccy bics though.  :icon_thumright:

G,

im also on a diet/exercise plan. i do wieghts at home in the loft, nothing too hardcore.
i also box aswell. so my routine is 4 sessions a week on the weights and 4 sesions a week
boxing. i do either 40 mins weights and 30mins boxing or just a weights session and a boxing
session the next day.

with regards to nutrition: breky is a bannana and a protien shake.
lunch is turkey or chicken sandwich.
                                         tea/dinner is chicken salad/ pasta & mince/ steak etc.
after training in the eve a protien shake.
i also take a multivitamin tab lunch time.
i also take a proien liquid mix at 10am (its about 2 spoons of liquid aminos mixed with 250mls
of water. it tastes shyt but i have an apple straight after.
please bare in mind that you can only digest a max of 35 g of protien in any one sitting. the  excess is simply passed out the other end and wasted.
last summer i was 13 stone 8. 5ft 7 inches tall so a bit porky. i now come in at 12 st 5. ive put half an inch on my arms by doing this and loosing fat. one of the best things ive done which seems to have made a diff is this;

immediately afte training have a dink made with 250mls of  water and isotonic powder.
i use 'iso enrgy' by body fortress (holland and barret helth shops) this gives you a suger
rush which dramaticaly increases insulin levels. this hormorne insulin then activley pumps
carbs and protien into your muscles at a time whenthey are depleted from exercise.
insuline is in relity a 'free' anobolic hormone.
so 10mins after you have taken the isotonic drink have your protien shake. as its liquid it is
easily absorbed by the body, then the protien is pummped into your tired muscles.

its worked for me, its also know as carb loading. your body looks fuller and ive managed to loose weight and gain muscle. eg dropped my body fat levels. if you are more intrested in gaining weight as you say mate dont do any cv work. you need to rest aswell as train but i guess you know that. overtraining is a killer so if you do too much it can actualy cause you to loose size. vairy your routine every 2mths to keep your body guessing. im sure you know this
already mate. good luck to ya anyway :icon_thumleft:

This diet  seems weird to me. Why would you not do cv work? Surely a healthy heart and lungs is the most important?

Yeah i see that point of view but that's unhealthy.

Andy this mis conception about loads of CV is bollox..... you heart is like an engine ... over loading it with shorten ya life span .... recommended cardio is only ever raising you heart rate slightly over a brisk walk for 40 minutes a day  :dontknow:

being heavy only puts load on your heart if your diet is unhealthy and you have high cholesterol ... loading the correct foods to build muscle doesn't ring unhealthy ....

the unhealthy thing what bodybuilders do is load up on certain foods then 6 weeks before a show cut out carbs..... then the night before they over load on them and cut out water untill an hour before the show.... this strains the body  :dontknow:

I am not going to this extreme but just don't want to lose size buy dieting wrong and doing loads of cardio  :dontknow:

they also won't live very long..... but they train for explosive power..... there diet is completely different again.......

the Olympic gold medal rower James Cracknell was said to eat 7500 calories a day for his training thats over double what I am eating....

Food is fuel,  its also key..... my cardio is in my weight training ..... you may say do cardio this do cardio that .... it goes again my current goals ... but how many people don't do any fitness all year round  :dontknow: thats more unhealthy  :dontknow:

That's quite a sweeping statement do you have the facts?

I know the average life expectancy of a tour de france cyclist is 56 but that is because of all the shit they inject.
