ok ive had my bike on the rd for a while now ,,and ive decided to change a few bits .... ive seen a few nice touches to other streetfighters and would like something like them on mine ,,but these are going to have to be custom made bits as thers not much out ther for naked zx10's    ....

how easy is carbon sheeting to use and mould into shape ,,ive got some foam i can shape into the parts i need, wat i was then going to do was use these as moulds to cover with carbon ......

ah the black art,ive made wet layup carbon bits,there not the best or strongest but i had to
do it like that.
for best results you need a male and female mould and clamp the wet layup between[use realease agent]
the real stuff is done in a vacuum bag and put in a autoclave to be baked.
however that costs thousands and out of the quetion.
so you need carbon matting,resin,and realease agent,then your moulds.
wet out the carbon in layers then clamp hard till set.

its going to be sparyed so doesnt have to be 100% ,,just thought it might be easier than fibreglass ,,but doesntsound as if its guna be ... maybe ill stick to glass n resin

The truth is : low end carbon market stuff is probably cured at around 60-120 deg C. You maybe able to post form sheet with a decent hot air gun, but you'll probably find you get all kinds of thernmal strains that end up buckling the laminate.   

You'll have to raise the temperature above its tg ( glass transistion point ) you'll probably get a couple of minutes before it re-hardens, then you'll have to take a bit higher still.... thats it after that, you'll probably start to degrade the epoxy resin.

As someone who's spent 30 years processing the black shit in the aerospace industry, my advice would be : buy someone carbon Fablon... or buy the proper stuff..... but remember its a "Fashion Item" and your paying 1000 times what its worth
