New Helmet
« on: March 12, 2008, 11:19:41 AM »

Thinking of getting a Shoei XR1000 and wonder what are the opinions of those who already wear one. (I currently have a Shoei X-Ceed, which I know was the top Shoei model when I bought it, but cant bring myself to buy the X-Spirit).

I use an XR1000 Diabolic model - the best helmet that I have ever used in terms of comfort and noise - would deffo reccommend one to you . However , as Glenn mentioned to me , the chin bar is not very " deep " and I do find that my chin does poke out the bottom a little bit which it doesn't do on the AGV Ti-tech that Glenn let me try on so I think I will be looking at one of those next as I am now quite concious of it  [wall]

always loved the arai rx7 versions..........superb fit and good sound proofing................before the growler of course [rofl]

afterall, anything that covers my face is gotta be good aint it  :icon_thumright:

they are over priced though

I do like Arai but my head is Shoei shaped I am afraid so find them uncomfortable . In my experience it has got to be one or the other as you will only find one of them comfy  [wall]

the ti tech is cheap as chips at the minute because the new GP tech is coming out .... I would recommend them all day long... you can get one under 200 quid and for a top of the line helmet (not for long) 200 quid is nothing  :icon_thumleft:

Having worn a Shoei for the last 19 years I'm happy to stick with them.

I've got both an XR1000 and a Rx-7 Corsair....both fabulous and both very comfy.

However, for everyday riding I tend to use my XR1000....suits longer distances.  The Rx7 has loads of vents as its a proper race helmet, so as someone says, its noticeably more noisy than other lids.  But to be honest, its not like its defeaningly so.

I tend to have my iPod on anyway now for longer distances. Just to stop the madness that is caused by the "hmmmmmmm" you get from the bike/wind etc.

The Rx-7 is lighter and less bulky on the track, but on the road in winds etc does feel a little too light (if that makes sense).

I would defo recommend both, especially the Shoei.

Be aware though, my XR1000 has really bedded in so is now slightly loose, so make sure its fairly tight from the off (I know I know, Granny eggs etc Pat...sorry mate)

Thats my penneth!

'kin ell Andy - you must have a plasticine head to find both comfy

 [rofl]

Must admit to loving the Corsair with the " golden eagle head " design on the side , looks " proper classy "  :icon_thumright:

Ha ha......not the first time someone has commented on me putting my head into tight spaces ;-)

I know what you mean...however I do find both fine.  I have a Large XR1000 and a Medium RX-7.  Both are really comfy on me.....

However, if you get me talking about AGV lids....now f**k me they are uncomfortable!  Like wearing a thorn crown!
