Crusade to remove vibes from my ZX10
« on: March 18, 2007, 02:14:09 PM »

Tried posting this before but it went wonk ?   :dontknow:

Anyway, any of you guys with an O6' or later 10R. If you've got a problem with vibes through the tank or  bars you may want to try some of these mod's, it certainly improved mine.  Unfortunatly, unless you know different ???  Kawasaki themsleves don't seem to give toss about the problem !

at the motocross wee used to get an old bar cut it down & fill it with lead then knock it out & then glue the slug in to the end off the bars this helped big time.

its a shame that you have to add weight though as they spend so much time developing light parts to make the bike lighter  :dontknow:

Hi I got the vibes to0 so this is great.

I heard of some people filling the bars with Silicone. Did you try this prior to the lead insert?

Re the GSX750 ends are these from a particular year or model.

No silicone BUT .............. Here's my lastest tweak that : Believe it or Not, and this has made a big difference to mine ( this sounds ridiculous but bear with mi  :dontknow: )

I was starting to get a lot of noise from the airbox ( yes I know you do... smart ass ! but the wrong noise !   :tongue3: ) Sounded like the shit OE paper element was buzzing, so I thought .. right,  time wiz that fukker and get a new-un ( I went for Green Filter ) .  While I had the tank up, I did A LOT OF LOOKING around for anything that didn't look right, things that might just cause, a buzzing / vibes etc.  although the lid of airbox seemed to be screwed down properly, there was a very slight gap between screw positions, the sort of thing most peole would n't even look at,... but I'm paranoid ! So, took the lid-off had a look inside couldn't see ow't so oiled the the  filter and popped it in. I had actually rode for a couple days earlier with it un-oiled having forgot to do it in the first place, and even that change of filter changed the vibes in bike.   HOWEVER, when I started to put in back together, I thought right I'll makesure every fits exactly, so I greased the interface of the lid and the top of the airbox, screwed it down, dead uniformly ( like you would ) and made sure all the screws bottomed out on the lid.... it seemed to look better even then. Then, if you've seen my Tank Mod, I thought... heeerm ? I wonder ??? When you look under the front of the tank, there are 4 rubber buffers. From day one I've been convinced of two things : 1) the vibes are set-off by some acoustic pulsing etc or 2) something related to an inbalance.  So, I thought I wonder if part of the vibes are being set off  from the noise of the airbox and resonating through the tank and then the bars etc, so I then greased every surface top/bottom of every rubber buffer, including where it sits on the frame  ! and greased the back rubber mounting  of the tank.   Told you it sounds ridiculous... but its transformed the bike  ! ! ! !     Try it oif you've got vibes ... I'd be interested to know how anyone gets on.     [wall] [wall] [wall]

Aaarh thats feels better ..... " Nurse "!!!!   [rofl] [rofl] [rofl] [rofl] [rofl] [rofl] [rofl] [rofl]
