"The chosen few" well 2 actually
« on: March 07, 2008, 09:17:27 PM »

too hard to narrow it down to 1 favourite rider so being generous i,ve picked 2.  David Jefferies @ Pier Franchesco Chili. Jeffries because he went against the grain of 10 1/2 stone racers. It was brilliant watching him at tt.s keeping it nailed over crests when lighter guys had to roll off. Had a great flowing style which was awesome to watch. I picked Chili cos not only was he a good racer, but he seemed a genuine guy who wouldn,t bow to corporate pressure, (remember him pissing Ducati off using 999 motor in 998 frame, and for one of the best races i,ve seen - 2004 Misano , Laconi 10 sec lead with 10 laps to go, Chili caught ,past him and won!Brilliant effort.  What are your 2 choices? give reasons if u want, even if it,s cos you like his lid or something. :icon_thumright:

Joey Dunlop (needs no explaining) and Foggy. I have chosen Carl as when i was first getting into road bikes in 96 he was at the fore front of bike racing so i naturally started to follow him. That era had some awesome racing with limited traction control tyre conservation was key and it was all down to rider skill ................ (and Ducati  [rofl] )

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_t6DKIvmdBs&feature=related     I doff my cap to both, awesome riders..... Foggy is a cock off a bike mind

well I will have to choose Rossi... if it wasn't for rossi then I would never of follow racing at all.... he also brought moto gp to the masses with his public appeal...

he is not a legend like some but he is a LEG END in his own right  :headbang:

I haven't followed bike long enough to choose someone else yet  :emb:

jesus a difficult one for sure................... Sheene and Schwantz for me

Sheene for bringing bike racing to the GB masses in the late 70's, I was fortunate to see him once at Oulton and he rode fearlessly and made a huge impression on me.

Schwantz because he's so personable and was and is a great rider, I watched him (and fred Merkel) show the others how it should be done in the transatlantic races in the early 80's

Huge respect to them both  [pray]

Im not going to say to much on my choice of riders,.............for both of them the bikes and riding as hard as posible with what they were given ........WAS all they needed,

its not all ways about havin the best bike or the best bits and bobs bolted on to make it the best bike in the padock......because both off my riders can and did prove that the RIDER alone is all it takes...........now you have to under stand that both these guys are both normal men ,nice to talk to and all that so you and me think well he is just like me.............WRONG these men are GAINTS in there own right, havin the will and skill to push a lesser machine to its limts and ride round factory bikes make these men stand out from the rest...........................and its why a ride in the maner i do to day............................. :headbang: :headbang:

Welcome to my Hero`s
