I don't usually use water  as said before baby wipe for me 

but when I do wash it down i'll keep it in mine

If you have one of those leaf blowers, use that to give the bike a blowjob  dry

I only do it where is visable buddy ... use and old toothbrush to rap the baby wipe around to get into small places though

   but only around the engine/exhaust and it will then condensate on the cooler parts i.e. tank and fairing panels , i know because I clean but rarely ride
