1098 now set up

bikes had suspension set up properly now. Wow! What a difference, feels like a duke now. Raised rear, steers quicker now, and dont fire me out seat anymore. Front end not wallowing around in mid turn, complete diff bike now! As suspected, far from factory settings, first thing technition said on feeling bike was quote "Fuck me". two days after road testing the bike i,ve now heard same technition was very impressed and is now after a 1098. [whistle] :icon_thumright:

I am very jealous mate. i would love one of them just no so sure it would make a good track bike considering the love they need to keep them going. Wicked looking bike though  :icon_thumright:

mr K seems to have given me 50hp to much!!! but i think i can manage. O K maybe with a bit  more practice !!

set up by P.B Motorsport of Blackpool. Were responsible for Rutters Macau winning Ducati from a couple of years ago, but don,t just specialise in ducati.

just out of curiosity is your 1098 a standard one or an S. The reason I ask is I get an 848 on the 1st march (hopefully if its delivered on time) and it has the same suspension has a standard 1098, the last mag report on the 848 said it suffered from running wide on corners and would need some suspension work to sort it out

Traditionally dukes need rear ride heigh added. On the 999 and 916 bikes it was easily adjustable via a threaded tie-bar and rocker

Hi 848 is a great looking bike too.....definitely the one I would go for on the road.......

I run my 996 with slightly raised rear ride height and the steering set on the steeper angle.  Transforms it from the standard settings......you can often get away with steeper ride height on Dukes becasue of the extra grip you get from the "big bang" power delivery at the rear.......only think is I don't think the 848 has a tie bar ride height adjuster so you will have to drop the yokes 5 mm down the forks instead......

I think his is the special R one that was 24 grand mate so have everything top spec  :icon_thumright:

I ain,t made of money im afraid . Only the 1098 s for me, budget wouldn,t strectch to the "R". In answer to your post Gibi, the main reason for having it set up was the "running wide" issue. Job,s a good-un now, as they say! :icon_thumright:

 I collected the bike last night so I have a 600 mile running in period but 180 miles into it there doesnt appear to be any issues with running wide. They may come as the speed increases. Its my first v twin so its taking a bit of getting used to, First impressions are that its very stable and the power delivery its alot smoother than I was expecting. After several rides on the 1098 I can say they are very different rides. the 848 is definatley more road biased but think in the right hands (not mine) it wouldnt be left behind on a track day.



PS Hope I'm still welcome on here now I've defected to the red side ?

no problem bud. It'll look even better next week, my carbon Termis are in but I need the shop to setup the new ecu. Although I am beginning to wonder if it actualy needs them. The sound from the standard cans is fantastic (just dont like the look of them)
